Lewis Hardy, if I said he Is mostly seen on the tennis courts at Sunset Park wouldn't be all true, because he is seen just as much on the basketball court and all around RMSH. This is not the first award, although it is among the top awards, that Lewis has received this year. He was chosen as an Alternate Delegate to Boy’s State, has been chosen the Hu man Relations Boy, and to add to his accomplishments Lewis was chosen an Outstanding Senior. With all the experience Le wis has hadwhile in high school, he is sure to end up as a col lege president or something neat like that, Lewis has been Vice-President of the Phalanx Club, President of his home room for three years and has been a Refs'esentative to the Student Representative Assem bly. He has served on the So cial Committee and the Elec tions Committee. Can we hardly believe that with all these things to keep him busy he still has time to be a member of the Phalanax Club Fellowship of Christian Ath letes and of the Monogram Club. Rotary Girl Shermayne Corbett Is no less active than Lewis. Although she isn’t seen on the basket ball court she admits that she does play a little tennis, Shermayne Is now serving as President of Service Club, was homeroom president first se mester and is the senior Class Secretary. She belongs to several local clubs. The Bethlete’s, which she serves as Vice-President, and the Y-Teens, Here at school Shermayne Is also very busy, who Is a Color Guard, a meml)er of the band, Shermayne has received se veral awards this year. The personnel In the Health De]?artment Investigated calls and really found many of their own cases. This work some times Involved going from house to house. Today It is Impos sible to do this type of case work, and it is wonderful that It isn’t necessary, as there are many clinics provided where people may go. When asked about her most reward experience In life she tolf us of the Polio Clinic in Hickory. Miss Gaynor was the first nurse from North Car olina to volunteer to help at the Hickory Polio Clinic. At this time no available vaccine had been discovered to counter act the dreaded disease, very little hell could be administer ed to the polio patients—other than keeping them comfortable by the use of warm blankets.
