General Mills sponsors this program yearly. The State Homemaker will be chosen from all of the high schools In North Carolina, The girls are chosen locally on the basis of their scoringonawrit- ten knowledge and attitude test. The girls took this examina tion last December 7. Along with Beth, three other girls were recognized as local winners. They are Sheila Boone, Northern Nash; Eliza beth R. Hicks, RMA; and Caro lyn Davenport, West Edge combe. Each of these four young ladles is eligible for the state and national award. The state winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship and a set of Encyclopedia Britannlcawill be sent to her school. In April, a representative from each state will meet in Washington, D. C., for the an nouncement of the nationalwin- ner. The national award will be presented on a basis of per sonal Interviews. It is a great honor for Beth to be chosen as a local winner. We wish her best of luck as she moves on to state competition.
