Twenty-seven highly compe tent educators representing the several discipline, ser vice and management areas of secondary education spent one and one-half days in the sc hool. They had opportunity to talk with all members of the faculty and administrative staff, with a sizeable number of stu dents and with some patrons. They were privileged also to observe the school in opera tion during one full day. A re port of findings and conclus ions deriving from a faculty self-study served as a valua- able resource for the Commit tee. Members of the Visiting Co mmittee were very favorably Impressed by the good climate of human relations existing In the school. This is viewed as an invaluable asset in, In deed a prerequisite to, the ope ration of a qualitative school program. The Committee was impressed also by the purpose fulness and commitment ma nifested by the pupils, tea chers and staff. This is fur ther attested by the air of ef ficiency without pressure or duress that seemed to prevail in the management and func tioning of the schooL This too is viewed as an indispensable element of a good educational program. In behalf of the entire Com mittee, I should like to enter Into this report an expression of deepest appreciation to the entire Rocky Mount Senior High School family for their unsur passed hospitality. The warm friendliness shown by every one and the countless acts of courtesy and assistance are appreciated and will enhance for time to come fond recol lections of the School and the people who make It what it is. The role of Chairman of the Visiting Committee was plea sant and rewarding. This is at tributable to the competence, devotion to duty, and spirit of understanding objectivity on the part of the Committee members individually and collectively. It was a personal and profes sional pleasure to have had this privilege and opportunity. I should like to express to each member words of commen dation and grateful apprecia tion.
