Edsonians Plan Trip Rocky Mount Senior High School Edsonians have been chosen as one of five groups out of ten states to perform at the Southeastern Theatre Conference meeting in Cin cinnati, Ohio February 27 through March 2. The con ference is composed of ten states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia. From these ten states the conference chose what they consider five of the finest drama departments in high schools in the combined states. North Carolina is represented by two groups at this showcase festival, with Mount Airy as one since they have a very strong drama Anyone can grow old... if he is given the time. The other three groups are from Mississippi, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Mr. Rawls feels that the invitation to the festival was extended as a result of the success that the local drama students had with their im provised fables at the state festival two years ago. As a result the students are reviving the fables and are carrying them to the festival in Cincinnati. Students making the trip include: Tony Brabham, Tom Bennett, Ken Batcheler, Gary Carter, Margaret Griffin, Amy Maxwell, Paula Murrill, Beverly Powell, Stuart Rodwell and Stuart Vaughan. Mr. Rawls and two chaperones will accompany the students to Cincinnati. Steve Braswell, an out standing senior at RMSH, has recently been chosen as the Kiwanis Boy for January. Over the past three years at RMSH, Steve has been very active in student government. Some of his activities in his sophomore year include SRA Juniors and Seniors beware, that dd Tasmanian Devil is back! Sophomores, - introducing the most hideous creature of all, the Exam. This particular beast appears on our campus twice a year. Our midterm is the delightful time fcH* the first of these to visit. In his junior year, Steve was Vice President of RMSH, chairman of the en tertainment committee for the Juniw-Senior, a member of the steering committee for reaccreditation, a member of the Service Club and a speaker for the Easter Sunrise Service. This year, Steve is 1st semester president of the Service Club, a patron of Wesleyan College and treasurer of the Eastern District of North Carolina Association of Student Councils. Steve would like to attend the North Carolina School of the Arts and study drama when he graduates from RMSH. He plans to go into professional drama or education after graduation.
