JANUARY 30, 1974 THE GRYPHON PAGET M-L. ZAHCo J ▼ !■ K — "Be careful! You may be en couraging me to drop out.” Strive To Keach Your Goals RMSH Introduces Girl’s Basketball For many years the question has been asked, should RMSH have a girls’ basketball team. County schools have had girls teams and now RMSH has a girls’ basketball team. The team is offered many of the opportunities that the boys’ team receives. They have uniforms and play by the same rules. They practice every afternoon and work hard so RMSH will be proud of their team. Their desire to win is very strong especially since this is the first RMSH girls’ basketball team. RMSH has offered tennis and track to girls in the past, but basketball is another step RMSH has recently taken. The idea of having a girls’ team has been discussed fcx* a long time. Finally Senior High is given the chance and all the girls seem interested whether they are a player or a spec tator. RMSH has given girls the opportunity to enjoy ^ sport (rf basketball as many others have done. The team is sup plied with referees, a go^ coach, new uniforms, and the support of many members of the student body. It has it’s own managers and the team is allowed to travel to other schools to compete with girls teams from different towns. As far as girls being able to participate in any athletic activities, besides a gym class during school, RMSH offers, to girls a chance to have girl teams in many of sports fields. RMSH has come a long way in the past two or three years. Senior High has developed itself so that it includes the majority of the students interests and desires. We, the students should be proud to attend a school that offers so many opportunities and is continuing to progress in the new ideas of today. GET IT ON AT D I TarrytowQ Hall “Everyone is dropping out!” Is this a true statement? I don’t think so. There are many who have the aim in mind to do so. There must be some logical reason why they feel that they need twelve years of education or more. What’s your reason for wanting an education? Remember the good times you’ve had? Wasn’t it exciting bringing your first grade teacher a big red apple? Going out for recess, playing baseuall, football and jump rope. And it was really thrilling chasing the girls around the room pulling their pony tails. And girls, how about when you shared your milk with the guy that always watched you when you went to the pencil sharpener? Getting a hit in the hand once or twice wasn’t all that bad, just for eating your peanut butter sandwich before lunch time. And when you left elementary school, you left the beginning of your school The Problems of Research Marcia M. A. Robinson Being a senior is so much fun; But a seniw’s work is never done. They’ve tested here and tested there But their research paper’s beyond compare. It turns them gray ; it turns them light. It makes them work both day and night. They work in the library for days on end; And on tomwrow they’re back again. The books are demolished; the shelves are a mess; Seniors want infcx'mation, the very best. Note cards are bothersome and seem a waste of time; But if they don’t have them, they’ve committed a crime. Seniors think that they are bewitched or bound by a hoax; They remember they’ve forgotten to rough i-aft their notes. The rough draft is finished, and not a day too soon. But fate won’t have it. She still predicts doom. Today is the day that the final copy’s due; And each one is joyful and glad that he’s througl^ Today is the day it’s read before the class. The time is alotted so they must go fast. The world seems against them and coming to an end. This is the time when the reading begins. Their hands are shaking, their voice trembles with fear; The one day they’ve dreaded is already here. One hears a sigh followed by a gulp They reached the last line, the finishing up. After days of waiting their Q^es sMne like glass; They’ve seen their score and know that they’ve passed. B & W STRIPING COMPANY STRIPINQ . RESTRIPINO HONDA SHOP - 945 N. Receiving your first Christ mas present from him, first box of Valentine candy and how about that first birthday gift, that’s what you looked forward to. You look back over the years and time seems to have drifted away. Your last day of senior high school, your senior year is almost over and there are challenges of life facing you ahead. Goals of ad vantages that you can obtain if you strive hard enough. The most important years of your life and you stand to choose and to succeed, you must have had success all along the way. School can be fun, only if you make it that way. You’re a loser if you have no sense of judgement, if success is not what you seek. Try hard, set down the fact in your mind that you have the deter mination to go all the way. And let no oppresses of life hold you back. Let your life’s endeavors be of a successful and fulfilling education. An education of 12 years or more is worth more than four extra hours of sleep each morning.
