I think if I can help that student in any way, whether it would be a lot or a little, I want to try.” These were the words of a student who, after hearing about the program planned by Mrs. Taylor and Miss Carpenter, wanted to participate in it. Before the reading com prehension program could m begin, students interested helping someone better their reading skills met with Miss Carpenter. She gave them a few pointers on how to help the student understand what he has read and how to best work with him on certain ideas such as vocabulary which may be causing some of the difficulties. After this little lesson, the students were able to begin working with other students. So far many students have prospered from this program.
