Brownings has several new guns for 74 that make excellent gifts for loved ones. No doubt you’ve seen it before, but here it is again. Remember that the thermometer may read in the 30’s, but a strong enough wind can give you severe frostbite. WIND SPEED TEMPERATURE 55 30 20 10 If you want to know how many hours until sunset, make a fist and hold it at arm> length, vertically under the sun. The number of fist- lengths to reach the horizon is the number of hours until the sun sets. No doubt the mouthful of gas that one gets when he attempts siphoning almost makes the task seem worthless. Here’s a way to siphon gas without sucking on the hose. Insert a wire, with a piece of cloth attached at one end, through the hose. Be sure the cloth isn’t too big to go through the hose, but is large enough to create a suction. Then pull the other end of the wire until you can’t see the cloth. Insert the hose into the tank and give the wire a quick pull till the cloth comes out. This should start the flow of gas. Congratulations to Dean Bradshaw who got his second deer of this season. It was a 4-point buck. How’s this for a new catfish bait? If there are leftovers of macaroni, use this cooked “pasta” for bait. Catfish love it, as do carp, fallfish, and occasionally trout. The cooked macaroni is quite fragil, so cast gently. Girls, for those guys you want to give a Christmas present, but not expensive, how about Winchester’s new Hunter’s Handbook? It has all of the game seasons spelled out with dates, fees, prospects and best hunting areas in each state. Also, information on which guns are legal, ballistics data and statistics are provided. And it’s only $1.95. Allis Chalmers Lawn Mowers and Tractors Pollard Equipment Co. 442-9011 THE CARLETON HOUSE Motor Lodge and Restaurant ROCKY MOUNT Denson's, Inc.
