Page Twelve —THE GRYPHON —Tuesday, June 1,19761 Officers Elected For SRA SRA OFFICERS ELECTED — Denise Alston, Paul .Mayberry, Kyle Pittman, and Angela Winston were chosen secretary, president, vice president and treasurer, respectively, for 1976-77. Quill And Scroll Society Inducts Gryphon Staffers The Gryphon Chapter of the Ouill and Scroll Society recently invited seven members of this year’s staff to join the local organization. Seniors Boon McGcc. Sandy Wilgus. Marga ret Bcck. Andy Bryant. Fleet Woodley, and Juniors Billy Carroll and Jackie Wilde all rcccivcd this award on May 12. The Ouill and Scroll Honorary .lournalism Society for high school journalists was organized on April 10. 1926 by a group of high school advisers for the purpose of rewarding and encouraging individual achieve ment in Journalism. Since that time the organization has an estimation of one million members located in both public and private schools throughout the world. Students serving on any school publication such as yearbooks, literary magazines, and newspapers are eligible for membership in the society. According to the constitution of the Ouill and Scroll Society. members must be chosen from the students in high school who at the time of their election meet the following requirements: (1) they must be of senior or junior classification. (2) they must be in the upper one third of their class in general scholastic standings, (3) they must have done superior work in some phase of Journalism or school publications work, (4) they must be recommended by either the supervisor or the committee governing publications, and (5) they must be approved by the The Student Organization elections for the ’76-’77 school year were held May 5. There w'as a light voter turn out to choose the school officers for the next year. Paul Mayberry was chosen as the President of the Student Representative Assembly for the ’76-’77 year. He has served as president of the Junior Class, is a member of the Phalanx Club, and is a member of the Tennis team. Kyle Pittman was elected vice president. He has been an SRA representative, vice president of the Junior Class, Election Committee member, homeroom president, and homeroom vice president. Dneise Alston was chosen secretary for ’76-'77. She has been SRA representative, homeroom president, and varsi ty cheerleader. Angela Winston was elected treasurer of the SRA. She has served as an SRA representa tive, a member of the Kudos Club and AFS Committee, and a Guidance Center representa tive. Executive Secretary of the Society. The number of students recommended and approved for membership depends entirely on the local chapters’ decisions. GIRLS AND BOYS STATE REPRESENTATIVES CHOSEN — Dee Rich and Laura Hardy will represent Senior High, at Girls and Boys State. Hardy And Rich Chosen Laura Hardy and Dee Rich were chosen by Principal Elton Newbern to attend Girls’ and Boys’ State at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During their stay of one week, June 15-19, these RMSH students will study Democratic procedures. They were picked for academic achievement and leadership ability. Laura Hardy, besides school work, is actively involved in dancing, working, and the C.B. Club. Dee Rich is on the staff of the HI-NOC-AR. Both were recently inducted into the National Honor Society.
