For the Gryphs the conference title will be*on the line and a possible chance for the state playoffs. This crucial game is also important for the simple reason the Gryphons are battling the Knights of Northern Nash. The Gryphons defense has been playing tough under the leadership and hard-hitting of Dennis Coit. The Gryphons intercepted four Greenville passes and held the explosive offense of Northeastern to just six points. The trouble has been with the inconsistency of the offense which has been hindered by turnovers and penalties. The Gryphs had a good offensive output against Hillside as Linden Willis threw three touchdown passes in the second half. Then Jess Ebert delivered with two touchdown strikes against Greenville. But the sputtering Gryphons were un able to score and were plagued with an abundance of turnovers at crucial points againsi Northeastern. These little kinks must be eliminated if the Gryphons are to defeat the blood thirsty Knights. Even if neither team has a chance for the conference title, the battle will still probably be hotly contested by players and fans alike. Sailing: An Easy Way To Be Free “Hoist the mainsail," "Mind the jib." These are familiar orders yelled aboard a sailing vessel. Sailing is a sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Sailing, however, is an expensive sport. Every year off the coast of Rhode Island the U.S. holds a sail boating race, and boats from all over the world compete for a gold cup. Sailors unlike most sports contestants hope for windy weather. Sail boats range from single masted boats to three or four masted ships. The smaller boats can be sailed in reservoirs or large lake'-. These boats are usually five feet to 15 feel long. The larger sailing vessels are usually sailed in sounds or the ocean. The wide openess of the oceans or sounds increase the amount and speed of wind. In North Carolina the waters between the mainland and ihe outerbanks is ideal for sailing. This area is too big for the smaller boats, but the larger boats can sail up and down the inland waterway with no trouble. Gaston Lake and Kerr Lake are perfect places for sailboats in the ten foot range. Sailors, however, have trouble in these lakes with skiers and speed boats. The openess of the reservoir in Rocky Mount is good for beginner sailors. back to nature Seven Chosen (Continued from page one) fine university.” Dee Rich added, “I have worked for an award of this nature ever since the sixth grade.
