Stevie Wonder, No. 2. Average White Band, and No. 3. Bootsy’s Rubber Band; with The Commodores and Natalie Cole closely trailing. The first place for ROCK groups is the EAGLES, second place is Elton John, and third place is George Benson. Boston and Peter Frampton came closely still in the running. Last but not least, students rated as their favorite COUNTRY single or group, John Denver. Second was Glen Campbell, and third was Tom Jones. According to the survey more students listen to Rock music, secondly students listen to Soul sounds, and third students listen to Country music. But yet according to the survey John Denver received a larger number of votes, with Stevie Wonder second, while the Eagles received less votes than Glen Campbell, that number two Country singer. Soul Stevie Wonder is an Artist ahead of his time. It’s amazing how one person could write 21 songs and have them all become hits. Average White Band’s latest Album is a live Album titled “Person to Person.” In this album AWB revised several of their old songs including “Pick up the Pieces,” “Cut the Cake,” and “School Boy Crush.” The album also featured a nice new hit “TLC” (Tender Loving Care). Bootsy Rubber Band’s latest Album “All, My Name is Bootsy Baby” includes such songs as “The Pinnochio Therom.” Commodores’ latest album “Commodores” included a number one hit single “Brick House.” Natalie Cole is a young lady who has accidentally followed in her father’s footsteps. Concert Artists Perform In May Rock The Eagles’ Rock style is Country Rock. The latest album “Hotel California” is a big hit. Elton John a Gay Liberator, has put out a lot of good music, one such as “Don’t go Breaking My Heart.” “Breezing” was one of George Benson’s first hit albums. Then followed by “In Flight.” His style is Moody Jazz. Boston’s first big hit album was titled “Boston.” The album alone has already sold thou sands of copies. Peter Frampton’s album “Frampton Comes Alive” has sold more copies than any other rock album. Peter Frampton is a British singer. Country’ John Denver man sings a lot about the Rocky Mountains. He is a lover of nature. His hit songs are “Sunshine on My Shoulders,” “Rocky Mountain High,” and “Please come to Denver.” Glen Campbell’s latest 45 was A concert often surpasses a tape or record album. In May three groups will perform live in Greensboro and Durham. On May 13 Boston will perform at the Greensboro Coliseum. Boston was started by a man named Tom Scholz who is a member of the group. He made his own tapes in his basement and then sent a copy to every recording station he knew. He had almost given up but decided to try one more time. The tape was a success with the hit song, “More than a Feeling.” On May 14 Lynyrd Skynyrd will also be at the Greensboro Coliseum. This lovely blend of English heavy netal and funky, rural blues, Skynyrd’s music, “Southern Nights.” His style is easily slipping into Rock. Tom Jones was once a sex symbol. At one time he was classical but now he is Country. occasionally dominates its lyrics. The group, made up of seven Southerners who rarely see home, is named after the members’ high school gym teacher (“perversely spelled but phonetically pronounced.”) They have sold three million albums. On the evening of May 25 Fleetwood Mac will be at the Durham Coliseum. The band is comprised of five Los Angeles- based members. John McVie plays the guitar while his wife Christine is one of the female singers. Mick Fleetwood is the drummer, Lindsey Bickingham is another guitarist, and Stevie Nicks is the other female singer.
