Well if you’re still around Senior High next year you will have a chance to meet Jan Aurele Anna Cornelis, the new American Field Study student for the 1977-78 school ■year. Jan, who is 18 years old, will be living with the Andrew H. Janelle family. Jan, who lives in a town called Waarschoot, is involved in a youth movement in Belgium called the SA for Catholic Students Action. He enjoys lectures and watching tele vision. According to his resume, Jan likes to take the initiative and to do things his way without being told. However, when someone has some advice to offer, Jan accepts it graciously as long as it isn’t a demand. In Jan’s family there are seven members including him self. He has three brothers ages Mr. Jake Arnold and Mrs. Rosalie Lynne demonstrated Cardiac Pulmonary Respiration to Mrs. Christine Tripp’s biology class May 6. Mr. Arnold is a volunteer first aid and CPR-instructbr for the American Red Cross Associ ation. Mrs. Lynne is the executive director of the Rocky Mount-Nash County Chapter of the American Red Cross. A plastic dummy was used in the demonstration. Among the procedures discussed were where to stride the chest to begin CPR, the number of times the chest should be mashed to exhale air, and the number of times the person giving CPR should breathe into the victim’s mouth. Mr. Arnold told the students that the victim could be administered CPR within the first minutes with little danger of brain damage. “One should never try and administer CPR without the proper knowledge,” said Mr. Arnold. “CPR can be harmful as well as good.” 13, 22, and 27 and one sister aged 25. In the Janelle family, Jan will have two younger brothers, Mike, who will be a junior next year; and Chris, who will be in junior high; and a younger sister, Denise, who will be in the ninth grade next year. Jan hopes to attend a University after he returns from America and study psychology or pedagogy.
