The team defeated Northeast ern in the fourth conference match, 6-3. Without losing confidence af ter splitting sets, Charlotte Ward managed a strong come back against Darlene Monds, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Gaye Shearin, who recently moved to the number two position, was defeated, 4-6, 2-6. Winn Braswell, third seed ed, demonstrated a strong serve against Meg McPhear- son, winning 6-3, 6-3. Amelia White struggled in split sets, losing, 5-7, 7-6, 4-6. Sharon Sawyer hustled through two sets defeating Tracy Harris, 6-0, 6-0. Ginny Riddick easily downed Paula Lassiter, 6-1, 6-3. In number one doubles, Char lotte and Winn were defeated, 5-8. Gaye and Sharon teamed up to win in number two doubles, 8-5. Taking a quick 8-2 victory in number three doub les were Amelia and Carol Hardy. In a non-conference match, the team defeated Durham Senior High, 6-3. Making their record 7-4. In Conference play in Eliza beth City, the team performed well against Northeastern, tak ing them 8-1 in their second conference match. Charlotte beat Darlene Monds, 6-3, 7-6 after a quick tie breaker in the second set. After splitting sets, Winn defeated Robin Harris, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Gaye split sets but soon regained confidence to down Meg Mc- Phearson, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Amelia won number four singles over Casey McDonagh, 6-3, 6-3. Sha ron conquered Tricy Harris, 6-2,6-2. Ginny Riddick grabbed a victory over Paula Lassiter, 6-4, 6-3. In number one doubles, Char lotte and Sharon teamed to beat Darlene Monds and Meg McPhearson, 8-5. Gaye and Winn were defeated, 4-8. Carol and Kim Murril, seeded num ber eight and ten, consecutive ly, teamed in number three doubles to blitz Pat White and Beth McPhearson, 8-0. The girls rivaled against Greenville again in their third conference game losing again by a score of 4-5. Charlotte tangled with Mar garet McGlohon winning 6-2, 7-6. Gaye was defeated, 5-7, 3-6. Winn lost after splitting sets, 6-2, 4-6, 4-6. Amelia topped Carolina Burton, 6-3, 6-2. Shar on took Lisa Grant, 6-4, 6-1. Ginny was defeated 2-6, 5-7. Charlotte and Gay lost num ber one doubles 3-8. In number two doubles, Winn and Sharon stole a victory over Pam Tal bert and Caroline Burton 8-5. Amelia and Carol were defeat ed in number three doubles, 3-8.
