2 news/ovinion tfieGR YPHON * March 2000 CoCCegefrom pg. 1 the application process and a prolonged waiting period for application status. Few colleges require recom mendations, but they can help highlight the applicant’s quali ties. Give the teacher or em ployer at least two weeks to write the letter. Consider pro viding them with a list of your activities and awards. Then they can write not only of their ex periences with the applicant, but also of other areas in which they are involved. This shows the college that the applicant is well-rounded. Guidance counselor Margie Holt notes that the best recom mendations include something personal about the applicant. Holt said that it’s important that the letter shows personal details not otherwise evident from the transcript or application alone. The most important thing is to have the completed package in the guidance office at least one full week before the deadline. Otherwise, the application may not be on time. from p£. 1 O’Keef, Jeremy Paltz, Travis Robbins, Matthew Schulte, Latoya Scott, Nancy Sirhan, 9-(o[ocaUSt survivor Student^oCC visits History cCasses If you could vote in the next pr esidential election, who wouldyouvotefcH'andwhy?
