Tom Hinson and Queen Je- Lowder, were chosen b\ reigned over the Held Day and also the dance held the same night. The program began at 1:00 0 clock with King Tom and Queen Jeneece, riding in a convertible, leading a procession composed of the high school band and all the contestants arranged according to their respective grades. After the King and Queen had mounted their throne, the program was of ficially begun with the band play- mg the national anthem. Two events were run off at the same time but still the program lasted until about 3:30 in the aft ernoon. The Concession offered soft drinks and snacks for the ex cited fans, and the band lendered several good numbers throughout the program. At the end of the Field Day events the eleventh grade took the highest honors with the tenth holding down sec ond place, and the twelfth coming in third. The Field Da>' judges were composed of faculty mem bers and a few students. Coach Webb acted as Clerk of Course. Funnies in ALBEMARLE enterprise LIBRARY CLUB The Library Club is composed oi eighth-grade pages, who assist with circulation at their library period once a week, and of high school assistants, who serve one period daily and meet weekly tor instructions. All assistants are members of the North Caro lina High School Library Association. Two delegates attended the meetings of the association in Winston-Salem and in Statesville. Boys' Team Wins Conference Title The boys' basektball team holds the winning title of the third an nual South Piedmont Conference basketball tournament held on the Catawba College court during the week March 8-13. The Albemarle girls were runners-up in the girls’ championship. Members of the winning squads in both boys' and girls’ divisions were rewarded gold basketballs, while the runners-up received sil ver ones. In addition to these individual balls, the winning and runner-up teams received special trophies. The trophies receixed In' both the •Mbemarle teams are on displa.\ in the school loliby. Three of Albemarle’s plaxers were picked for the all-star teams and each received special medals. The three thus picked were Ra- nelle Troutman, Gene Harrington, and Hoyle "Shotgun" Talbert. Ra- melle, Albemarle girls' high scor er. was picked as "most valuable" for the girls' all-star team. Once an old monkey got mad Said he, “My story’s too sad.
