Page 8 THE FULL MOON May 31, 1950 Senior Musicians Present Recitals Tommy Sibley and Connie Mc Lain, outstanding seniors, have given their graduation recitals, Tommy’s being a full-evening performance on May 9, and Con nie’s being given in collaboration with two other of Miss Worsham’s pupils on May 16. Tommy has had an outstand ing career in music during his high school years. Recently in national auditions, he was award ed a high school diploma in music Marshals for Tommy’s recital were Ellene Holbrook, Martha Moore, Barbara Brown, Connie McLain, James Gulledge, John nie Knight, Bill Grigg and Henry Efird. Connie has also had an out standing career in music, having won the Bach medal. She has been accompanist for Joy Phil lips over WABZ, has appeared on “Stars of Tomorrow” over WPTF in Raleigh, and has been on the l*fational Honor Roll in music of TJCEA for nine years. Connie will receive her high school diploma in music this year and plans to enter W. C. U. Tf. C., where she will further her musical training. Marshals for Connie’s recital were Martha Moore and Ellene Holbrook. SCHOLARLY FOURSOME—^The four students of Albemarle high school, pictured above, hove made an "A" average on semester grades during their four years of high school. This fact came to light as a search of the records was made to determine this year's valedictorian and salutatorian. Left to right, they are—Connie McLain, salutatorian; Martha Moore, valedictorian; Roy Holt, and Sarah Frances Poplin. —Cut courtesy News and Press. 8th Graders See Historical Sights The four eighth graders of Al bemarle high school have made their annual trip to Raleigh and other points of interest in East ern North Carolina. The last two groups of eighth graders to make the trip on May 18 were the students in Mrs. Ivey’s and Mrs. Saunders’ rooms. The tour was made by Mrs. Lynn’s room on the 17th, and Mrs. Hayes took her students on the 11th. The tour was by way of Dur ham, where the eighth graders visited the big Liggett & Myers Tobacco plant and saw how Ches terfield cigarettes are made. From’ Durham they went to Raleigh, where the groups took in the capitol building, the state museum, Hall of History, School for Blind, state penitentiary, the governor’s mansion, and other state buildings; and they also visited the birthplace of Andrew Johnson. The tour included a visit to sev eral colleges, among these being State college and the Colosseum there, Wake Forest, Meredith and St. Mary’s. The return trip was by way of Southern Pines and Pinehurst, where the students got a glimpse of the two principal winter re sorts in the state. TUCKER-MANN MOTORS. Inc.
