PEEPING TOMS
KID CAUSBY — SKIP McMANUS
APPLAUSE PLEASE FOR:
Coach Toby Webb, who, with
his able assistants, has worked
and striven to give Albemarle a
good football team.
The Varsity, who have given
their time and sweat to win
games for old A.H.S. They’re
now in second place in the South
Piedmont conference.
The Cheerleaders, for the work
and patience it takes to get a
little school spirit out of the
students.
The B-team, who are trying to
match the varsity in their stand
ing.
Coach Bill Jeffords, who has
Worked hard to whip the B-team
into shape. The Varsities of the
future depend on them.
Spencer Hatley, his band has
really been above par this yera.
We think they have shown up
Well against all our opponents,
(Note the white shoes.)
R. C. Hatley, whose work with
the new public address system
has added new life to our
games. (When it works.)
Mr. Cashwell, who has spent a
lot of time with almost every
group and individual in Albe
marle High.
Miss Lentz, our senior class
sponsor. It really takes a lot of
patience. Applaud too, for her
landing Dwight. That took pa
tience too. Eh, Miss Lentz???
Miss Bankett and Miss Cald
well^ our “Black Masque” play
directors. We may even have
a senior play this year.
Mr. Fry and the wonderful
Work he has done with the Mix
ed Chorus. We would also like
to say something about his ter
rific work with the boys’ chorus.
It took some work for that crew
of boys. (What say Reid, Ken
ny, Richard, Booge, Chicken,
Cob?)
. Mrs. Fry, who spends all her
time getting the “Full Moon”
out.
The “Full Moon” and annual
staffs. The students taking part
in these two things spend a lot
of their out-of-school time work
ing for you.
In fact, we want applause for
A.H.S. and its students and teach
ers, because we think they are
the best to be found.
NUTS TO:
The spectators at the football
games. Why can’t they cheer?
The people who throw cigarette
butts into the sink and chewing
gum into the water fountain.
The underclassmen who run
down the halls at a reckless pace
and then stand and talk to some
one until they’re late for class,.
The helldrivers who think the
roads around the school are race
tracks for their use only.
The girls who attempt to
snow football players so that
they can be sponsors. /
The grandsta!nd coaches who
know more than Coach Webb and
tell everyone* about it.
The snobs who think they’re
sent from heaven and everyone
else is trash. Ouch!
These eternal gripers. Can’t
they ever be satisfied?
The students who slip into
ball games. Always wanting
something for nothing.
The studyhall quarterbacks.
Watch out for your position,
Swanner.
The people who tear up the
magazines in the library.
The artists in the toilets and
halls.
The clubs that aren’t active
this year. Let’s get on the ball.
The seniors that are determin
ed that if everything doesn’t go
their way, they’ll pick up their
marbles and go home. Most of
them don’t have all their marbles
anyway.
The people that don’t like this
column. What's the matter?
Does the shoe pinch? We send
a note of sympathy.

B-Team Deieats
Concoid Javees
Albemarle high school’s “B”
team beat the Concord “B” 19-7
last Thursday to keep their sea
son’s record perfect. *
Concord won the toss and elect
ed to receive, but they were un
able to make any deadway. Al
bemarle took over on downs and
started a touchdown march. A
seven yard pass from Lawhorn
to “Tub” Russell netted the first
home team TD. Larry Bowers’
kick was wide and the Bullpups
led 6-0. Later in the first quar
ter Lawhorn seemed to be trap
ped on an end run, but he lateral-
ed to “Booge” Bowers, who went
all the way. Larry Bowers’ try
for the extra point was good, and
the score read 13-0.
A second quarter pass from
Lawhorn to Ray Gene Smith put
Coach Jeffords’ boys ahead 19-0
at the half.
Tub Russell took the second
half kick-off on the 20 yard line.
On the first play from scrim
mage Albemarle fumbled on the
Concord 35. Concord recovered
and started a drive that scored
their first and only touchdown.
The kick was good; the score
read 19-7, and as far as scoring
is concerned, the game ended
right there.
