On the Beat
By JO ANN BURRELL
According to Mr. HEttley, mem
bers of the A.H.S. band are plan
ning on a pretty busy schedule
during Thanksgiving and Christ
mas holidays.
They will parade in Albemarle
twice—once in the Armistice day
parade November 11, and again
in 'the parade welcoming Santa
Claus to town. Also, they plan
to present a Thanksgiving pro
gram at the high school with the
Mixed Chorus.
The biggest event that the
band has been asked to partici
pate in so far is the “Carrousel”
in Charlotte.

Students Order
State D.O. Pins
Students of the D. O. class are
ordering their state D. O. pins.
These pins are worn by all D. O.
students throughout the state
and are ordered each year.
These pins are round with a
hammer, rule and a torch in the
center, which represents trade.
Around the edge of the pin is
written North Carolina Diversi
fied Occupations. The pins are
either gold or silver and bear the
initials of ^the student on the
back.
North Carolina is one of the
few states that have a state pin.
in Norwood. At present this is
the only engagement they have
made, but they are hoping for
other invitations.
