Bruce is five feet and ten in ches tall, weight 165 pounds, and has the strong piston-like legs needed by a wingback. Last year Bruce was second-string tailback on the squad, and, due to his improvement in running, was promoted to first-string wingback this year. You will probably see Bruce on the basket ball court with the varsity bas ketball team this year, too. In school, Bruce is liked by every one, and his popularity was prov ed by his being chosen Student Lion for October. Bruce has contributed a lot of yardage for the football team, and he will undoubtedly add a lot of points to the scoring of the KEITH BYRD Keith Byrd has been chosen athlete of the month because of his never tiring spirit, keen blocking, and pass receiving. Keith is six feet and one inch tall, and he weighs 155 pounds. He plays right end for the Bull- dogs'and does his share of block- and pass receiving. On the field he always plays hard. Football is not his only sport, for Keith plays center in basketball. Keith also has been chosen Student Lion for November. He plans to enter Carolina next fall. basketball team. All of these achievements by Bruce certainly merit his being chosen athlete of the month.
