March 14, 1952 THE FULL MOON Page 3 School Annual Is Now in The Mail The Annual has flown to Tex as! Amid rapidly falling snow flakes the last third of the 1952 Crossroads was carried to the post office and mailed Air Parcel Post, to insure its arrival on the dead line, February 29. Staff members, as well as their teachers, are now trying to get back into the swing of classes again. Nerves are finally calm ing down to normal, with the students appearing none the worse for it. Miss Kyzer, annual advisor, has located 10 gray hairs after proof-reading 27 pages and try ing to teach classes at the same time. The staff members readily vote taking pictures as the most nerve-racking phase of annual work. It’s no wonder they were walking around with a wild look in their eyes and mumbling to themselves. They had Mr. Ivey running all over the school building, while they tried to get the students in the right places at the right time. As the deadline drew near, the word went out for Jimmy Brown and Charlie Walter to be brought back, preferably alive. The An nual coudldn’t be shipped until they had completed some un finished snapshot pages and art work. The whole school was alerted for the two boys; and with such odds against them, they finished the work in no time. The literary staff worked their heads off trying to find suitable quotations for the seniors; while the typing staff was just worked to death typing and retyping the senior pages. The business and sports staffs had it easy for this last third and didn’t exert too much brain energy. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the Annual material, plus dummy, was wrapped nice ly in a large cardboard box. Un- Young'uns Yarns JOHNNY YOUNGBLOOD The philosopher defined the difference between life and love: “Life is just one fool thing after another; Love is just two fool things after each other.” Blue salesman who has drag ged out half his stock for wo man customer: “Mind if I rest a few minutes, lady? Your feet are killing me!” Boss to stenographer: “Con gratulations, Miss Simpkins; this is the earliest you’ve ever been late!” Small boy to father: “I wish you’d let Mom drive. It’s more exciting!” “I see you’ve given up teach ing your wife to drive.” “Yes, we had an accident.” “You did! What happened?” “I told her to release her clutch and she took her hands off the wheel.” Women at a party were over heard making this brief exchange as they stared at a singularly unattractive gal across the room: “Is she married?” “No.” “Some lucky guy.” One chorus girl to another: “She was so dumb that even the other blondes noticed it.” Nowadays when your ship comes in, the government sees that it is docked. less the weather became too rough, the prize package would arrive at least two days ahead of deadline. With this in mind, weary stu dents trudged slowly back to classes to begin school anew. H. P. H S., talking and laughing with a crowd of students. Sports take up a large part of Harold’s time. During his pre vious years at A. H. S., he has been on various intramural com mittees and participated in all intramural sports, such as, ten nis, basketball, horseshoe, vol leyball, and softball. Also foot ball being his favorite sport, he played on the B-Team for two years. This versatile and dependable boy is an honor student and was elected president of the sen ior class by his fellow students. Harold’s leisure time is spent at the movies watching his fa vorite movie stars, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. After the show you would probably see Harold devouring fried chicken and fruit cocktail, his choice foods. To be a minister is his life’s ambition. He will continue his studies by entering Mars Hill next fall and then finishing his college career at Wake Forest. May success be yours, Harold. No one deserves it more.
