THE FULL MOON

Prologue
BRUCE LOWDER
After their dates the boys do
come
Out at Harmanco’s to have some
V fun.
The number of boys is only
seven,
But give them time, it’s just past
eleven.
Here comes Jerry with a great
big smile;
He found his heaven down the
road ’bout a mile.
Of Carolyn is all he did “parler”,
He must have been over there all
‘day.
The shirt he was wearing was a
beautiful blue
He wears his clothes for Caro
lyn, not for you.
Into the building he did come
Only to talk about having so
much fun.
Oh! look at Keith, all messed up
and bleeding;
My first impression of Ellen was
sure misleading.
He just got back from way out
in the sticks.
And if I know Keith he was up
to his old tricks.
His car was all dirty and muddy;
He got stuck up and guess who
pushed—
No one but Buddy.
Keith was hungry but he’s spent
all his money;
Buddy was laughing, ’cause he
thought it so funny,
Keith was dressed in his Sunday
best.
But he said he was tired and
needed a rest.
Leslie, who was last to arriye.
Came buzzing in like a bee hive.
He said he had been to the show,
But where did he really go?
Les is well liked by all the boys;
He likes to talk and make some
noise.
Les was very happy and gay;
With Ruth Ann he had spent the
day.
About eleven-thirty all had come,
All laughing and talking and
having fun.
They talked about girls and
things.
Finding that many had exchang-
' ed rings.
A little after twelve o’clock
All were gone and Harmanco’s
was dark.

JOE GASKIN
“Joe, what do you think the
answer is?”
Quite often this question is
heard in physics and many oth
er hard courses. Joe Gaskin,
that good-looking, green-eyed
senior, has the reputation of be
ing able to answer nearly any
question you might pop on him.
And he can! Although Joe is the
youngest member of the senior
class, he is the smartest. He’s
an outstanding member of the
Honor Society, and he also is the
only AHS student that reached
the regionals of the Angier-Duke
scholarship.
All through his high school
career, Joe has taken part in
many extracurricular activities
besides maintaining outstanding
high grades. A member of the
Senior Hi-Y basketball team, Joe
helped lead his team to victory
and the championship. He play
ed on the Y team. He was also
chosen as the representative from
the Senior Hi-Y to the club
council.
Joe has a real knack for busi
ness. He’s the business man
ager for the annual and sports
editor of the school paper.
Last year Joe was chosen for
the Invitation committee of the
prom. This year the senior class
made him their testator. The
student council chose Joe as the
chairman of the Publicity com
mittee of the school.
Girls, don’t go out of the^way
to snag Joe, ’cause he’s already
taken. He likes blue-eyed red
heads, and his favorite pastime
is being with Ginger. Joe would
be content sitting down to a T-
bone steak and then taking
Ginger to a movie starring Ed
mund O’Brien or Vera Ellen,
Joe hasn’t made up his mind
about his further education yet,
but his choice will either be Duke
or Carolina.
He wants to be a civil engi
neer, which takes a lot of hard
work, but we’re sure Joe will
make a success of life ’cause he
really knows how to work.

JEAN BARRINGER
Who is that sweet, versatile
girl that you will always find in
the midst of all the student ac
tivities around school? Why,
none other than Jean Barringer,
the secretary of the senior class.
Jean is an athlete from way
back and has shown her prowess
in sports by being a member of
the varsity basketball team for
two years, participating in in-
tramurals for two years, and has
been active in Field Day for three
years. To top off her basketball
career, she was chosen, this year,
to be a member of the all-South
Piedmont conference team, and
she also received an honorable
mention for the all-State team.
Jean started her career of serv
ice to the school by being elect
ed president of her home room in
the tenth grade and has faith
fully kept up her good work and
service to the school.
During her junior year she
busied herself by being an usher
for the junior play and by serv
ing on the decoration committee
of the Junior-Senior.
As a mighty senior her service
to the school has been no less
than previous years. She was
a member of the cast of the sen
ior play, and at present, she is
secretary of the senior class and
a student council representative.
In addition to her other ac
tivities, she has also found time
to be an active member of the
Dramatics, Boosters, and Tri-Hi-
Y clubs.
Jean has her ideal Prince
Charming pictured as being 6’2”
with blue eyes and dark, wavy
hair. She favors William Lundi-
gan’s height and looks, but the
dark hair is missing, Here’s
your chance, boys!
Jean will set her sail towards
W.C,U,N,C, next September for
a one-year business course, Here’s
luck to you, Jean, and as the best
comes to the best, we’re sure you
will be a big success.
