The intramural football tourna ment played on November 14 and was won by the Senior team. On November 14 the tourna ment began with a forfeit by the ^ reshmen to the Seniors and with the Juniors defeating the Sopho mores. Those two teams played in the tinals with the Seniors winning Dy a score of 18-0. It was the second intramural football championship for the sen iors. Last year, as juniors, the same team won the championship lor the first time. Boys on the 1952 championship ^am are; James Gibson, Bill Huckabee, Tub Bowers, Jerry ray wick, David Bruton, Pete Al mond, Charles McManus, Chunk oarringer, Donald Morton, Ray Smith, and Bob Palmer. According to Coach Webb, in tramural basketball will begin snortly after Christmas. Special classes are being held lor the office workers of the D. O. Class. AHS Produces Shrine Bowlers In the six years has been head football coach High School, Coach Webb has had four boys selected to play in the Annual Shrine Bowl Game at Charlotte. Bob “Goo-Goo” Gantt was the first to go in 1947. From there he went to U. N. C., where he graduated last year. Another b^ who is now playing at U. N. is Ed Patterson. Ed played m the Shrine Bowl in 1950. Doug Knotts went in 1951 and is now continuing his playing at ^this year it was ?a^d Bruton, who will graduate from A. H. b. Both of these boys held prom inent positions in the Bulldog line up this past season. Ralph is a tailback on offense and a safety man on defense. Otty, who also plays on both teams, plays end on offense and halfback,on defense. These two boys had a large part in helping secure the nine victo ries for the Albemarle Bulldogs this past season. Albemarle Places One On All-State Albemarle placed one man on the All-State and three on the All - South - Piedmont Confer ence football team of 1952 as com piled by the Greensboro Daily News. David Bruton, who was also se lected to play in the Shrine Bowl, was the one who made the All- State team. David along with two other Bulldogs made All - South - Pied mont Conference. They were T- Boe McLendon, a guard, and Gene Snuggs, a half-back. Gene, by receiving the most votes of any player in the conference, was ac claimed captain of the honorary team. Those who made honorable mention included Raygene Smith, Otty Lynn, and Jerry Tray wick, ends; Larry Bowers guard and extra-point kicker; Bill Huckabee, center; and Ralph Setzler, tail back. R. C. Hatley spoke at the Union County teacher’s meeting held at Wingate Junior College November 24.
