BuUpups Start Ball Season
With One Loss, Three Wins
The Albemarle High School B-
team has been very successful
so far this season, winning three
out of the four games they have
played. Only one was lost; that
one to Asheboro.
The starting line-up for the
B-team is Wade Smith, forward;
Marvin Clark, guard; Jimmy
Coggins, center; Franchot Palm
er, forward; and Elliott Gaddy,
guard.
In their first game, they rolled
over the YMCA Jrs., 63-25. Miller
with Coggins feeding him the
ball, scored 19 points for high
score.
Win Again
The locals faced more competi
tion in their next game against
the YMCA Midgets. The score
at the end of the first half was
16-15 in favor of the Midgets.
During the third and fourth
quarters, Coggins along with
Smith pulled ahead of the Mid
gets for a final score of 41-37—
favor of the B-team.
Lose to Asheboro
The losing game was with
Asheboro. The B-team tried very
hard, but they could not surpass
the basketball ability of Ashe
boro. The half time score was
11-24 in favor of Asheboro. Dur
ing the third and fourth quarters,
Jimmy Coggins, leading the Bull-
pups, narrowed the margin be
tween their score and Asheboro's
to five points. The final score was
50-45 in favor of Asheboro.
Defeat Concord
In their next game with Con
cord, the Bullpups edged the
Spiders, 44-42. The scoreboard
at the end of the first quarter
was 12-10 in favor of the B-team.
Driving hard the next quarter,
Coggins, leading his teammates,
widened the margin to 26-16.
Trying very hard the next
quarter, the Spiders came within
six points of the B-team. Albe
marle, being very good on both
defense and offense held their
lead until the final buzzer blew.
The score, 44-42, Albemarle.
Coach Bill Robinette has
shown fine coaching ability this
season. The inspiration he has
given his team is one of the
main reasons for their winning
streak.
