Page 8 THE FULL MOON November, 1955 Christmas Time Means Busy Time for Mixed Chorus Strains of Christmas Music have been coming from room 84 each afternoon at Fifth period. The reason for this “rushing the season” is that the Mixed Chorus is already hard at work on their Christmas engagements. Their first engagement will be at the Lions Club, December 14, This will be a short program of Christmas music. The big event will be the an nual Mixed Chorus Christmas Concert, which will be held Dec ember 15, in the High School auditorium. Ould of Roa noke, Virginia, to the student body in assembly November 14. For the scripture. Hazel Law- hon read the Twenty-Third Psalm, and Mrs. Kenneth Brown, Director of Christian Education at First Street Methodist Church introduced Mrs. Ould. She is recognized as a leader of youth in the realm of Friendship and Marriage, Youth and the Chris tian Home. The students were held spellbound by her clever illustrations that she used as she talked to the group on Boy-Girl relations and the importance of building a happy home. Mrs. Quid was one of the guest speakers at the Stanly County Training school at Central Meth odist Church last week. While in Charlotte, Iris will stay at the Hotel Charlotte and will be competing for the title Queen Carrousel X. During her stay she will at tend a banquet, be given a tour of the city, and participate in the big event, the Coronation Ball^ which will be held at the Colise um. More scholarships are available for high school students now than ever before. Requirements for these scholar ships are based on scholastic achievement and promise, fin ancial need, and personal qualit ies such as character and ^lead ership ability, and in most cases the applicant’s successful com pletion of the entrance require ments. Kenneth Barbee, James Speights, Beaupine Crisco, Kay Cauthen, Vicky Culp, and Susie Culp are the students eligible from AHS. Wake Forest is offering to any interested senior the George Foster Hawkins scholarshipSi forty scholai ships ranging from $300 to $900 for each school year. Many students are showing in terest in this. Also scholarships are being of fered by General Motors. These can be used in any school. This is open to students wishing to attend any accredited college or university. Wheaties Richardson is inter ested in the Angier-Duke scholar ships offered each year to higl’ school seniors who want to at tend Duke University. Seven scholarships are avail able for the Duke School of NurS ing. Three awards of $1000 eac^ will be given, three of $600 and one of $250.
