WHO'S WHO
JEANETTE HINSON
Spectators at the Homecoming
game were privileged to see Jea
nette Hinson crowned Homecom
ing Queen, This lovely brunette
can certainly be rated as one of
the most outstanding in the senior
class.
From the first, Jeanette has
shown her ability to lead. In the
tenth grade she was elected vice-
president of the Junior Red Cross
and treasurer of her class. She
was also seen on the football field
as one of the letter girls.
The Junior-Senior Prom and
Junior play were more of a suc
cess with her helping on one of
the committees of each project.
She was also secretary of the
Junior Tri-Hi-Y.
Jeanette is Feature Editor of
the FvZl Moon this year and is on
the literary staff of the Cross
roads. This year also marks her
third on the basketball team,
where she has made a very good
showing. She is also serving as
president of the Booster’s Club
and treasurer of the Black Mas
que.

ROBERT L. SMITH
State competition in science is
nothing new to our Who’s Who
for this month, Robert L. Smith.
Robert has been an Academy of
Science winner for the past three
years. He received honorable
mention during his freshman and
sophomore years and third prize
last year. Robert has also be
longed to the Fisher Body Craft-
man’s Guild for three years.
Last year Robert L. served as
treasurer of the junior class. He
was also tapped into the National
Honor Society, and he now serves
as president of this organization.
Last summer Robert L. was a
delegate to Boys' State, where he
held the position of county com
missioner.
This year Robert L. is business
manager of the Crossroads, and
he serves on the news staff of the
Full Moon. Robert L. works on
the assembly committee for senior
her church, where she sings in the
choir and is president of her Sun
day School class.
When Jeanette isn’t busy with
school or church work, she may
be found at a movie starring
either William Holden or Jane
Wyman, or eating steak and
French fries.
She is still undecided about
which college to attend, but hopes
to become a nurse. Wherever the
school may be, it is certainly a
lucky one to have a girl like Jea
nette.
Class Rings Mean
Santa To Juniors
Class rings for the members of
the Junior class has been ordered
and were supposed to arrive some
time before the holidays.
The ring is still the traditional
A.H.S. design, and the members of
the class voted to have a red inset.
This is one of the special events
of the year, as all Juniors look
forward to the day the rings ar
rive.
The Junior class has done ver>'
well with their money-raising pro
jects this year. To date they have
made $320 on the sale of pencils
and potato chips. Totals of the
profit made on the Junior- play
are not available at this time, but
they should be in the neighbor
hood of $200. This will give the
class a total of roughly $500.
This will be more than an
adequate sum to put on the
Junior-Senior Prom and they
should have at least $100 to carry
!ip with them.
class programs. AHS is very
proud that Robert L. has been
nominated as a candidate from
Stanly County for a Morehead
Scholarship.
Robert L.’s hobbies are paint
ing and making models. This ac
counts for his being chosen as the
most original boy in the senior
class. He also enjoys hunting and
fishing.
Country-style steak with French
fries, strawberry shortcake, and
a gallon of tea makes a perfect
meal for Robert L. His day would
be complete if he could see a
movie starring his favorite stars,
June Allyson and Gregory Peck.
Robert L. served as the first
president of the Junior Optimist
Club. He is now chairman of the
board of directors for this club.
He participates in the church
activities at the First Baptist
Church, where he is a member.
Future plans for Robert L. are
for a pre-med course at Carolina.
Seniors are confident that
Robert’s future will be outstand
ing, because they have chosen him
as the boy in the class most like
ly to succeed.
