Page 6 THE FULL MOON I MOONBEAMS | Annual Staff Jill Anderson is the editor of the 1969 Crossroads. Other positions are Jimmy Nance, assistant editor; Alice Ppks, business manager; and Billy Freeman, assistant busi ness manager. Mrs. Jeneece Smith announced staff positions April 18. Lion And Rotarian Dale Clayton and Ronnie Bur ris are Student Lion and Ro tarian, respectively, for the month of April. Congratulations, boys! SAT College-bound juniors will test their abilities Saturday morning. May 4, by taking the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Seniors will take achievement tests in the afternoon. Band Concert The band received a rating of Good at the Greensboro Band Clinic, April 3. They played three songs under the direction of Mr. Tommy Hauss. Choral Concert Music sets the pace for spring with the annual spring choral concert May 10. Popular and patriotic music will be portrayed by the Senior Choir and Varsity Singers, as well as the Ninth Grade Chorus and other singing groups. “Psychedelic Sophomores” served as the theme of the dance sponsored by the Sophomore Class and their advisor, Mrs. Joyce Myers, Tuesday night, April 9. In accordance with the theme for the evening, the student lounge was decorated with col orful psychedelic posters and with records suspended from the ceiling. Twi-Lites Provide Music Arriving at 8:00, the tenth graders enjoyed an evening of dancing and entertainment with music provided by the Twi-Lites. The dance lasted until 11:00. Serving on the decoration committee for the event were the following: Connie Holt, chairman; Don Kimmer, Sharon Stowe, Ann Denning, Karen Al mond, Steve Stokes, Nancy Fun- derburke, Ricky Swaringen, Sheila Ritchie, Mitchell Smith, Jane Garrison, and Jane Young blood. Members of the refreshment committee were Sheila Ritchie, chairman: Karen Almond, Donna Barrier, and Ann Denning. ' A'n active member of the FTA, the Booster’s Club, and the Science Club, Dianna gives up much of her spare time to help on various com mittees and projects. She also works on the Crossroads staff and was chosen Most Talkative by the Senior Class. Chairman of the Radio Club, Mike has served as co-captain of the wrestling team. He can usually be found in the auditorium helping with stage lights and other equipment. Voted Most Influential, Mike is also a member of Audio Visual staff. Congratulations to these two seniors who have given so much of themselves to the school. Sophomores Hop In Psychedelic Decor The first annual presentation of the Coveted Calvin Awards highlighted Teacher Apprecia tion Week, April 22-26, sponsor ed by the FTA. Acting as master of cere monies, Mr. McGee introduced chapter president Jane Nicholds who explained the purpose of the Future Teachers of America and described the nature of the awards. Deese Nominated For “High Noon” The first nominee for the Best Teacher award was Mrs. Mildred Deese for “High Noon,” or “How to Beat Mrs. Myers to Lunch.” Mrs. Deese ran to look at the clock and made sure that Mrs. Myers’ class had not left yet. Mr. McGee presented the Sound Effects award to Mrs. Nancy Gamewell for “In the Heat of the Day,” or “My Man Eating Fan.” Also nominated was Mr. Bill Cain for “The Sound and the Fury,” and Mr. Tommy Hauss for “The Music Man.” Mrs. Anne Kepley received the Behind the Scenes award for “A Hard Day’s Night.” Also nominated for this movie was Mrs. Amy Wolf. Receiving the third nomination was Mrs. Willie Fry for “Get Yourself A Col lege, Girl.” The next nominee for the Best Teacher award was Mr. R. C. Hatley for “The Longest Day,” or “Why Did You Cover the Clock, Mr. Hatley?” In this scene Mr. Hatley covered up the clock. Chaos resulted because the students had different times. Bogle Wins with Wardrobe The award for Best Wardrobe Design went to Mrs. Jo Bogle for “Guess Who’s Coming to Gym.” Also nominated was Miss Betty Brooks for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and Miss Gaye Hols- houser for “Sex and the Single Girl.” Nominees for the Best Sup porting Teacher were Diane Hudson, Sharron Holt, Cindy Kobulnicky, and Steve Phillippe. “The Graduate” copped the award for Miss Kobulnicky. A scene from “Who’s Afraid of Nell Westerlund?” showed her frightening couples in the hall. The Best Director award went to Mrs. Sibyl Brown for “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” Other nominees were Mr. Ken Frazier for “I, the Audiovisual Man,” and Mr. Titus Waddell for “The Berlin Wall,” or “How I Lay Bricks.” Myers Is Best Producer Mrs. Joyce Myers took the Best Producer award with “Doc tor, You’ve Got to Be Kidding.” Also nominated were Mrs. Jean Morgan for “Second Time Around,” and Mr. Bill Merritt for “And Baby Makes Three.” Following “The Great Es cape,” in which Mrs. Alma Crowell listened to phony ex cuses, Mrs. Mildred Deese re ceived the Best Teacher award for “High Noon.” Jane Nicholds presented the Honorary award to Miss Chico- ra Caughman in recognition of her many contributions.
