Page 6 THE FULL MOON December 2,1977 Construction Kicks Off Plans for the Albemarle Senior High’s new football stadium are underway. After several months of hard work and planning, the Hickory Construction Company has been given the general contract for the stadium. “The new stadium should take about two years to build”, commented Dr. H. T. Webb, Superintendent of the City Schools. Along with the interview she was first runner-up as Historian in the district. By running in the district level, she has earned the right to attend the State Leadership Conference which will be held in Raleigh March 16, 17, and 18. Other students attending the workshop from ASHS were Barbara Clark, Jo Ann Holt, Vickie Lambert, Bonnie Little, Lynn McManus, Jeff Noah, Janet Ochs, Tommy Ochs, Terry Scott, Jane Staton, Denice Wall, Joyce Watkins, and Robert Woodle. Unlike Albemarle’s old stadium, the new one will include an area which will be accessible to the han dicapped in wheel chairs. The home side will feature a press box and concession .stand. On the visitors’ side there will also be a concession stand and restrooms. Around the football field an all- weather track will be laid. Along with the track a field will be built for all field events in the track program. To help control traffic problems, two new parking lots will be built, one on the Palestine Road and the other on McCurdy Avenue. The new stadium along with the other attractions should cost $685,000.00. Money from the 1973 School Facilities Act will pay $60,000.00 and the Capital Reserve Fund will pay $63,000.00 toward the project. Blue Grass Highlights VICA The Albemarle Senior High ICT-VICA Club traveled to East Mecklenburg School, Wed nesday, November 2 for the 1977 District Six Leadership Meeting. The VICA officers were involved in a workshop focusing on ways for officers to better carry out their responsibilities. President Charles Burris participated in the Presidential Workshop and as Parliamentarian, Mitzi Morris worked in the Parliamentarian section. Sheila Benton was in volved in the Treasurer workshop and Paula Sides attended the Secretarial Workshop for the VICA Club Secretary, Margaret Crisco.
