David Smith faces the frustration of a match.
The Boys’ Tennis Team is
working hard in preparation for
the sectionals to be held on May 7

was not sure who would be rep

optimistic for success in the
tournament. The team, through
their March 31 match had an im

The Bulldogs competed in five
non-conference matches before
going into league play. The team
captured 3 matches but lost 2. On
March 6, the Bulldogs opened
their season at West Montgomery

Girls On The Run
One new addition to this year’s
sports program is the girls’ track
team. This season has been quite
an experience for the girls and
first-year coach, Sandra Pollard.
Even though this is the team’s
first year, they have done well,
placing second in their first two
track meets. In addition, two
team members, Norma Hyatt
and Laura Frederick, qualified
for the sectional meet to be held
May 2, at North Rowan High
School.
Running for the Bulldogettes
are Freda Blackmon, Regina
Blackmon, Laura Frederick,
Shan Helderman, Terry Howard,
Norma Hyatt, Allison Karam,

Conference meet at Albemarle
Senior High Stadium. Other

By DAVE MOOSE

Dave Holcomb, the boys’ golf
team has opened the season with
a fair showing. The team has had
unsteady performances through

March 10, in a conference match.
The Bulldogs played well and
finished in 3rd place among all

Reese also played well, both
shooting 91’s.
Although the team finished in
fourth place on March 31, they
showed vast improvement. This
was the best match of their young
season. Three Albemarle players
came in with scores under 90:
Mark Honeycutt had an 84, An
thony Reese tallied 88, and Keith
