Dr. Hack ley is al965 graduate from Michigan State Uni versity, where he received aB.A. Degree in Inter national Relations. At the University of North Carolina, he received a Ph. D. and graduated first in his class on the Master’s Level. He is also a niember of Phi Beta Kappa. Presently, he is Chancellor of Fayetteville State University, after a twenty year career in the military. We had the chance to hear Dr. Hackley speak AHS last year during Black History Week, "'here he gave us his ABC's for success and explained the rewards of having a positive atti- ^de. The class of 1991 welcomes Dr. Hackley to our graduation. Dr. Lloyd Hackley Muse, Laton Win Top of the Class Honors Seniors Kevin Muse and Ami Laton have been named as valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 1991. As valedictorian, Kevin Muse in his four years at AHS has excelled in academics as well as extracumcuah- activities. His accomplishments include winning a National Merit Scholarship and the presUgious Holden Scholarship. As a senior he is president of the National Honor Society and captam of the High-Q Team, of which he has been a member for four years. As this year’s band captain, he holds 1st chair alto saxophone and has been active in the all-state band and the University of Tennessee Honors band. As salutatorian. Ami Laton has excelled inside and outside of the classroom throughout her four years here at AHS. Her accomplishments include being a member of the National Honor Society where she serves as chaplain. Ami served as juniormarshal, is ascholar-athlete. Presidential Scholar’ andhasjustrecentlybeennamed as Optimist Girl ofthe Year in Stanly County, She has been a very active member on the cheerleading squad for four years and has received All-State Cheerleader and was an All-American nominee, A special congratulations is extended to Kevin and Ami for their outstanding efforts during their high school careers.
