Graduates to Hear Flood

Dr. Dudley E. Flood, Executive Director of
the N.C. Association of School Administrators,
will be the guest sjjeaker at the 1994 graduation.
Dr. Fk»d received a Bachetor’s degree from
N.C. Central University, a Master's degree from
East Carolina, and a Doctorate from Duke Uni
versity. He has also studied at Hampton Univer
sity, Elizabeth City Sute University, and UNC-
ChiqjelHilL He has taught and been principal for
both elementary and secondary schools. He
served as a Superintendent in the North Carolina
Department of Public Instruction for 21 years.
Dr. Flood has received more than 250 awards for
civic senrice, including the “ Order of the Long-
leaf Pine" award as Ambassador Extraordinary
forNorthCarolina. He has also received the Out
standing Alumni Award from ECU and has been
named Distinguished Professor by the National
Academy of School Executives.

Valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of
1994 are Hannah Oettinger and Amanda Pelt, in
that order.
Hannah Oettinger, valedictorian, is a four
year member of the tennis team, drum major of
the marching band, and student council treas-
tirer. She attended Governor's School West-
1993 inNatiu'al Science. She has taken piano for
almost ten years and recently received a high
school diploma in piano.
Amanda Pelt, salutatorian, is president of the
Science Club, an active member of First Presby
terian Church, and a Band Captain. She is a
member of the National Honor Society. She also
works fifteen hours per week at the Albemarle
Animal Clinic.
Congratulations to Hannah and Amanda for
their outstanding leadership and academic stic-
cess at AHS.
