Valedictorians, Salutatorian
Traditionally, the graduating class is privi
leged enough to have a valedictorian and salu-
tatorian. However, this year the Class of 1997
has two valedictorians, Connie Edwards and
■^ames Monroe, and salutatorian, Mike Bryan.
Connie Edwards is the daughter of Mr. and
^rs. Ken Edwards. Along with being Senior
Class President, Connie is a member of the var
sity cheerleading squad and frequently plays the
piano for her church. She is planning to attend
N.C. State in the fall.
James Monroe is the son of Mr. Jim Monroe
and Mrs. Martha Hanis. James is a member of
the National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl Team,
and is planning to attend UNC at Chapel Hill.
Mike Bryan is the son of Mr. Allan Bryan
and Mrs. Deborah Maltby. Mike is a member of
the tennis team. Quiz Bowl team, and serves on
the student council. He is planning to attend the
University of South Carolina.
Congratulations to Connie, James, and Mike
for a job well done. Good luck in the future!!

Mike Bryan, Salutatorian
Seniors to Hear Bob Harris
Mr. Bob Harris, the voice of the Duke Blue
Devils,will be the guest speaker at graduation.
Mr. Harris is a 1960 graduate of Albemarle High
School. He attended N.C. State University, but
for twenty-one years he has been broadcasting
Blue Devil football and basketball games. An
award- winning broadcaster, Mr. Harris has been
honored with the N.C. Association of Sports
Broadcasting Award of Merit and the Associated
Press Excellence Award. He has also served as
presidentof the N.C Associaticnof Sports Broad
casters. However, he says his greatest honor is to
speak at Albemarle High School's graduation.
