REV. ADAMS TO SPEAK AT

Rev. M, A, Adams of Rutherfordton,
who represents the United Dry Forces in
the western part of the State, will have
charge of the services at the Baptist
church Sunday morning, August 13th, at,
11 o’clock.
HIGHLANDS SCHOOL OPENS
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEJffiER 6TH
Wednesday, September 6th has been s©t
as the opening date of Highlands school,
according to an announcement made by Prof.
0, F, Summer, principal. This is due to
the fact that many of the school patrons
and children will be busy through Labor
Day week-end.
BIBLE SCHOOL BEGINS NEXT
MONDAY
A two weeks daily vacation Bible
school will begin at the Presbyterian
church on Monday, August 14th, under
the direction of Mr, Hubert Wardlaw,Bi
ble School Director for Asheville Presby
tery. The ages of pupils in this school
will range from four to eighteen years,
and classes will be from 9 o'clock a,m.
to 11 o'clock a.m. Other churches are co
operating in the work of this school.

CAST OF MONDAY’S MATINEE PICK
OF BARTER COWMIY
The cast of Saturday’s Children in a
matinee showing here Monday, August 14th,
brings together the very pick of the Bar
ter Theatre Company, Edith Sommer, who
plays the leading role will be remembered
as the winner of the Laurette Taylor award
in compotitivQ auditions against nearly a
hundred other ambitious actors. In this
play she has a wonderful opportunity to
play a role that is young and sympathetic
and for which she is entirely suited.Otis
Morse, the male lead will be welcomed in
all his parts.
The purpose of the recently organized
Highlands Little Theatre in bringing this
play here is to stimulate interest in
their own first play, Dulcy, which they
are presenting August 29th, and to show
what this Little Theatre hopes to grow
into.
LIBRARY ASSOCIATION HOLDS
ANNUAL MEETING
At the Annual meeting of the Hudson
Library Association last Thursday at the
home of Miss Ife.ry J. Crosby, IJiiss M. A,
Ravenel \ms re-elected president. Miss
Albertina Staub and I.Iiss Crosby, vice-
presidents; Ivliss Dorothea Harbison,Treas-
urorj and Miss Cora Miltimore, secretary.
The board of trustees is composed of
