E, L, Billstein of Greenwich, Comi,, has arrived to spend the .summer at her homo on east Main Street, Her guests for the next several weeks are Mrs. Marvin Kemp and Miss ^ij-ginia Kemp of Lake ITales, Fla. Prof. W, L. Lippinoott, head of the Chem istry Department at ^lemson College, who usually spends the sijmmers at his I>Iirror Lake oottage here, is doing special study in,Chemistry at Cornell University this s umme r. * Mrs, 0. E, ^oung and Mr, and Mrs, H, M, Smith with a party of friends visited "I'Vayah Bald last Sunday to see the white azalea on the mountain top, which is now at the height of the blooming period. On their return they drove in to Cliffside Lake just outside of Highlands and found the drive from the Highway to the lake a veritable fairyland of moimtain laurel. Miss Carolyn Potts and Miss Marie Neely spent the v/eek-end at Cullowhee the guests of Mrs, Annie Pierson and Miss Eva Potts, who are taking a summer course at the Col lege. Miss Mary Elizabeth Yoxmg is visiting Miss Nancy Dicks in New Orleans. Earlier in the month Miss Dicks was the guest of Miss Young at her home on the Walhalla Road, Spending the summer with Mr, and ^^rs, D, Wiley is Mrs, Wiley*s father. A, N, Rogers, of Greenville, S,C« Mr, and Mrs, Vjiley have opened their fruit and vegeta ble store on Main Street, Miss Alice Inman is again at the Oriental Arts & Crafts Gift Shop with her customary supply of yarns, also sweaters for men, women and children. Miss Inman is handling yarns at cost for relief knitting, Mrso Meta N, Hall, Miss Carolyn Hall, MrSo W,R, Potts, Miss Peggy Potts, and Mack Neely attended the Rhododen dron Festival in Asheville last Thurs day. Mr, and Mrs, C,E. lliiner and family of Clewiston, Fla,, have taken an apart ment with Miss Susan Rice for the remainder of the season, Mr, Miner is an insurance broker. A.j D, McKinney returned to his home in Birmingham, Ala,,last Sunday. He was accompanied by his sister, Mrs, Helen Thompson, who is expected to return to Highlands the last of the week, I'^r, and Mrs. H, M, Bascom and their daughter, Mrs, Louise Bascom Barrett, of Nev7 York City arrived Sunday to spend the summer at the Bascom home on Satulah i'-^ountain, Mr, and Mrs, W, J, Beacham and their daughter. Miss Martha Beacham, of At lanta are spending the season at their cottage in Shortoff, The vacation church school, which was conducted at the Horse Cove Methodist church last week, closed ^’riday with a picnic that v/as enjoyed by all. Six teen children were enrolled and eleven received credit. POTTS BROS.
