LAl^ENCE The Womans Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church held its August meeting at "Sunnylee", the lovely summer home of Mrs, B, R, Lawrence on Mirror Lake. The president. Miss Susan Rice, presided and Mrs. W,A, Bryson led the devotional service. Lawrence took the leading part on the program, giving an interesting account of "The Jews in American Life";Mrs. Higgins read a paper on "The Way to Holi ness." Re-^. , Higgins spoke on Mission Study. Mr, and Mrs, Voltaire Sturgis and their daughter, Harriet Sturgis, of Sarasota,Fla, are spending two weeks v/ith Mr. and Mrs, George Strong at "Strong Acres", on Mirror Lake, Mrs, Carl J. Mayfield and Tsrmall son, Jimmy, of Washington, D.C,, have "been vis iting relatives here for the past week, En route home they will visit Mr, Jfeyfield’s parents in Atlanta. J5rs. Mayfield is the former Miss Frances Reese of Highlands, Dr, and Mrs. J, M. ITright and their daughter. Miss Lollie Joe /.'right, of Still water, Okla., are occupying the Slater cot tage in V^ebbmont for two weeks, Dr.V'fright is surgeon at the Stillmore University hospital, and this is their third summer in Highlands, Mr. and Mrs, Vincent Vallejo and their son and daughter, of Havana, Cuba, are oc cupying Esteliel Lodge in Lindenwood Park for a month. Miss Genevieve Simpson of binderson,S.C, is spending two weeks v/ith Miss Darthula Rice at her home "Idylease" at Shortoff. Mr. and Mrs, John Moore and Miss Jessie Picklesimer of Y»est Palm Beach, Fla., ar rived Thursday for a vi.^it v;ith their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Picklesimer of Clear Creek. The net percentage for the P.T. a.from "Tom Browne’s School Days" was ^$12,05. Mr. and Mrs, H. Hamer of Atlanta art spending their honeymoon at "Lakehurst", the summer cottage of Dr, and Mrs, Warner P, Davis of Lexington, Ky. Mr* and Mrs. E. A. Thornwell and fam ily of Atlanta are occupying the beautiful summer home of Fred E. McGonigal at the Country Club during the month of August, Miss Frances Wiley, who is taking the nurses' training course at the Franklin Square hospital in Baltimore, is spend ing a two week’s vacation with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. D. V/. ViTiley, Mr.and Mrs, xJeivton Rogers and family of Columbia were v/eek-end guests of their father. A, N. Rogers, at the home of Mr, and Mrs, '.•iley, j'^rs, L. C. Lynch of Gainesville, Fla., who has been spending some time in Asho- ville, is the guest of Miss Cora Milti- more, Mr. and Mrs. R,1V, Blacklock of the University of Florida, Gainesville, will arrive on the 24th for a visit with Miss Miltimore, Mrs. W, 0*D. Rockwell has returned to her home in Augusta after a several weeks’ visit with her cousin. Miss Rebecca Nall at her home on East Main Street, Rev.
