The funds derived from this cause will be donated to the Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. organizations in the Orient. Our local Hi-Y pledged $25 for these groups during their con vention in Charleston. The Hi-Y has plans to beautify our school grounds by planting shrubbery. The cooperation of each . and every student is needed to keep West Montgomery clean and attractive. The Hi-Y deserves com mendation on its fine pre sentation of daily nioxTii.ng devotions. Club chaplain, John Hodge, is responsible for the programs. Junior Varsity Basket- ba.Tl this year has fallen somewhat below the expect- ations'i of those familiar with basketball at West Montgomery. Prospects for a winning season grow dim as the season progresses. T!*e boys and girls have a 1-5 record with thr'ee games remaining in the season, one with Randleman and two with East Montgom^- ery. Each J. V. squad has pitted its forces against those of Seagrove, Randle man , North Stanloy(twice), and East Montgomery (twice). The boys^ only victory to date came a- gainst the Seagrove five, 29-22, with the following boys sharing the scoring honors: Benjy Simpson, 10 points; Ronnie Russell,8; and Buster Sedberry, 7. 3SDJ133 The Juniors and Seniors who took the College Board, December, have received their scores. Of the sen iors, seven placed over one thousand points. Two scored over the twelve hundred mark. Placing highest was Marion Dorsett. Second high scorer was Liz Dickens. Seniors John Hodge and Frank Crump, placed third with identi cal scores. Others took the test on January 12. Their results have not been returned. The 3choii^i'ir> Aptitude Test will be on tferch M-. The girls, whose plight has often seemed a mite hopeless, if not pathetic, surrendered such gems as i|4-5, 24-3, and 50-18, be fore finally assembling their forces and charging to a 16-9 victory over Randleman. Outstanding work by Carol Hogan netted her 7 points with Carol Gray gaining 4. Cathy Langley, Susan Rankin, and Debbie Hodge with 2, 2, and 1 points rounded out the scoring Happy is the man who I'.ath never known what it is to taste of fame--to have it is a purgatory, to want it is a hell. Lytton CAGE COMMENTS - (continued from Page 11) club, establishing another West Montgomery first. We hope it is not the last. From these two midsea son joy spots, the Sqaws proceeded down the hill they ascended with so de termined an attitude. Vic tories were no more, save for a 22-18 shuttling of the Jaycees, a group of local enthusiasts. But, as with the boys, two con ference games remain. Re demption awaits. Hope, which appears to have faded dim.ly, is not lost. Two more conference victories would give the Warriors a 4-4 slate which is far from being the worst in the association. Besides all that, the tour naments remain. Here, sev- would redeem all.
