COMPLIMENTS OF ED ALLEN YOUR BARBER AT THE BILTMORE HOTEL In Appreciation to the Juniors and Seniors of Jamestoton High School SPORTS As the curtain falls on anotlier school year, we glance at the sports of the past year, and find that Jamestown was again successful. Jamestown High for many years has been a big name in the sports of Guilford County. Jamestown had things very much their own way during the soccer season and coasted to their sixth straight Guilford County cliampiouship. Jamestown added a little more steam and captured its fourth consecutive state championship. Coach Z. V. Morgan, the pride and joy of Salisbury, had a veteran team to begin the season with and kept it at its peak throughout the whole season, winning most of the games by a rout. Immediately following the soccer season the athletes of “Jinitown” carried the blue and white into the County basketball race. (Hoth the boys’ and girls' basketball teams were glad to carry the Jamestown colors, and we are equally glad to iiave such a noble band wearing the vaunted blue and white.) After many close and exciting games Jamestown qualifiel for the tournament at Greensboro. James town’s girls and boys teams advanced to the finals. Uefore a paeketl house the Jamestown girls defeated the powerful Stokesdale sextet by a 38 to 35 count. Jamestown had a sniiill lead in tlie final few minutes, and the fans nearly went berserk as Jamestown won with a final burst of glory. The .Tamestown boys made short work of Sinnner and almost doubled the .score to become county champ.'?. The Children’s Home team also entered the Win ston-Salem tournament and brought home the “bacon” in the form of another championship. In baseball Jamestown came up with a team of unknown quality and surprised everyone by winning enough games to be seeled first with Bessemer in the tourney to decide the ruler of the county crown. “To the swift comes the laurel w'reath of victory” and Jame.stown has high hopes of capturing the an nual track meet at Curry. Remember boys, when your strength is gone and your breath is coming in short jerks, that you must carry on for dear old Jamestown. On taking a look into the future, we see to our dis may that we are forsaking soccer for football. TTpon l>eing told that the football team will be as good or better than our soccer team, we begin to sit up and take notice. Speaking in behalf of the staff of the Hi-IJghts, I would like to thank Kvolyn Cnudle. J. W. Warrpn. Sidney Ray. and Miss Speer for their help in keep ing t.nb on the “Sports Parade”. JULIAN JIcGHRE.
