The adilress of welcome \vas given by Miss Moultrie Drake, President of the Phi laretian Society. The chief speaker of the evening was Mr. J. AV. Bailey, ajj attorney of the city, who was introduced by Miss Ruth Goldsmith, president of the Astrotek- ton Society. This address was followed by the |)resentation of the essay medals. Tlie Bowling medal, donated by l)r. E. H. Bowl ing of Durham, was presented to Miss Ella Pierce, by Jlr. S. E. Ayers, tlie winner of the Bowling medal of the Wake For est Phi. Society. Tlie Carter-Upehurcli medal was presented to Miss Bell Carroll, by Mr. Carter, of Wake Forest, the nephew of the donor. The Loving Cup, the trophy for the championship in basket ball, was received by the captain of the Freshmen basket ball team. This cup was px-esented by Miss Gertrude Royster, instructor in athletics at Meredith. Musical selections by Misses Mary Lee Caldwell and Annabel Bridger, gave variety to the program.
