'I'he purpose of ibc convocation was a thorough discussion and coiiieniplatlon of the plans pro- posed for the now Merodllb. To us who uro living here in the College community, the plans and aspira tions of the building committee and the campaign ri;iumirtee av* very familiar, but there are many Inier- csted and soon-lo-be-intere.sted friends of the (Irealer Mei'edltb who do not have the facts in hand, so to speak, as do we. For their Inforination and greater coJ'.poration the meeting was primarily called. The men who met here were fully Informed anil advised as to the working methods and schemes of those persons who are at work for Lite new college, and these men, in their turn, will render due .service by broadcasting over the Slate, to their congregations and friends such new light on the subject as they have derived from the mooting. Nor was the College itself debarred fr(»m participating In Ibis day of days. As a present indication of the dream which is to be realized, tbo .Meredith girls themselves were actively Intere sted in the work of the meeting. .And, as partners in u worthy project, such members of the student body as could, the faculty, and the represenlalive men of the State sal themselves down together that they might partake, not only of the presented luncheon, but also of the enthusiasm and inspiration wlihdi must arise from such a group. It is a regrettable fact that tiie Col lege docs not have the right sort o£ enuipmeni to entertain such a number of friends with all of the girls acting aa hostesses. The smallness of dining room permitted only a limited number of the girls to be In with the guests the entire time, but near the close of the meal the remaining girls nmrched In and led the yells and songs which followed. Susie Herring spoke to the asseml>lage for the student body, and in her welcome she brought forward the fact of the spirit or "genius" of Meredith whicli must ever live In the hearts of lier aUimnl and friends, that genii loci which will be transplanted wherever Meredith goes.
