W. C. A,, a B, Y. P. U,, and halt dozen organiza tions besides. Not only do so many societies and clubs fail to function well, but they take time that riglilfully belongs to real work. There are com paratively few people in any college who can and will work in any of these activities, and It is on their ahonl lers that the burden lies. Of course every club and every union, association or society o! any kind has a definite purpose and serves it, if not well, in some measure, but is it wise to let the purpose for whicdi we come to college give way to all these smaller and rather doubt ful blessings? Perha))s a certain number of clubs is neccssary, but it Is certainly not necessary that every upper classman should feel in honor bound to belong to them all. Better to say "This one thing I do." than "These forty things dabble In," 209. Elizabeth Huntly, Opal Horton, Grace Blalock, Sarah f^elgh Taylor, 212.
