Dear l^dilor: i saw a reciuost in the last copy ol’ Uh' Twni Cor sugKcstions as regards ils inii)roveniont. Tho' I uni only a rreslinuin, may I bo iicrmitted to say that 1 welconic tho chance to advance a I'ew iiluas (if my own which I am sure would be ol’ great value in in- crcasinK not only the iatcrost of the [)a|u;r. Inn also nial(?riiUy increase its eirciilatlon. In ilie lir.st plaec;, you are too prone U) lay siiecial emphasis ou things \vhi(;h (!o not interest the majority ol’ Ihe students. For instance, you ran over a column ou the Shakespeare leiaiires, while a low paragraphs ou ■•'i’lie Laud ol' Joy" as presented at the Stale Theater would be vastly more uulerlainlng. written as it could be by Margaret Eagles, in her own inimi table way. It's the everyday things of life that appeal. A sonnet by Margaret Wheeler on “Grits and Gravy” would acid a novel touch, and a brief account of the freshman who was rescued from .Irowning would be of interest. Tlie Tact that she merely slipped while washiuR her hair could be omitted. A whole front page scandal could he secured from Dr. Winston’s Chem. II Class, since they have been carry ing on many stages of fermentation in the lab, using a whole cake of yeast in one afternoon. It Is rumored that Mary Yarborough aud Mary Crawford are at the head. 1 am of the opinion that it would pay to put a practiced .sleuth on the trail of some of the odors emanating from the Lab. I am sure you will agree with me when I say that a pictorial section would help. Nothing elaborate, of course. Merely snapshots taken dur ing the Sunday check, and some of the lovely sunsets that are to be found around our campus. Too much stress is laid on who has gone, rather than who has come. You mention that Annie Mae Brown has gone out for the week-end, but fail to state that Frank Trautham was seen on our halls Saturday night. And don’t you think, dear Editor, that black and white grows very monotonous. Why not try red print ing ou an orange background, or bright green on lavender. I hesitate to say that you are not keeping up with the latest, but in one respect wc could really place our pa per in the lead. I hear that cross word puzzles will be quite the thing before long, and wouldn’t it be great if we could publish the flrst one! On the matter of circulation, news boys. or rather girls, would increase it u hundredfold. Crys Davis has the newsboy whistle, Leone Warrick’s voice could be heard from one end of Fayetteville to the other, and Mary Allison the approved swagger. Why not try these three for a week or so? I have many more suggestions which I will give you as soon as you take advantage of these. Trusting that you will use them at your earliest convenience, I am, Vours sincerely, Hyma.neitk Oi’Ci’:.\itKi.M. Kuth Leary; Between you and me, what do you think of Al?
