THE TWIG WAKK FOKL’ST 11. Y. P. U. SOCIAL filVEN SATriJDAY AT 3[i;itEDITH (Continued from page one) Again the newly maile friends re- siinied their conversations and who can say that Dan Cupid did not slioot some of his fatal arrows? Soon the sound of Mr. Moseley's whistle was heard and we followed hfni iiilo the other society hall where we were de lightfully entertained by Mr. L. R. Peacocl and Miss Grace Lynch in the dialogue "The Matrimonial Bureau.” First, Mr. Peacock am>eared on the stage, hair all touseled. a mannnoth mole on his nose and a whale bone under his knee. He seemed dread fully worried and anxious about meet ing a lady from the "Matrimonial Bureau" whom he had never seen. He waits a long time and as she does not appear he leaves. After be is gone the "lady" arrives, wig, specks, hat and all other paraphernalia that goes with an old maid. After a mournful solil oquy on her part he appears, and both are shocked at the appearance of the other. Then she started a lively discussion which finally ends in both discarding their make-up and each de lighted with the other. Few bad stopped laughing at the play when Mr. Mosely called upon Miss Marguerite Harrison the presi dent of Meredith B. Y. P. U.’s for the incoming year, to make a speech. She responded with a talk that is very char acteristic of her enthusiasm and in terest in the B. Y. P. U. work. Following her talk was a siiort and snappy word from Mr. Adrian Newton, president of Wake Forest B. Y. P. U.'s for next year. Both talks asked for coopera tion between the two B. Y. P. U.'s and expressed a hope for even closer relations between the "sister and brother” organizations. Next Miss Edith Maynard, president of Jleredith B. Y. P. U.'s for this year gave a fare well talk expressing a wish that she could be in the B. Y. P. U. work next year. Last but not least came the refresh ments consisting of delicious ice cream and cake. All too soon the bell rang for the boys to leave, and all the "couples" reluctantly told oach other good night, the Meredith girls dc- clniring they had never spent a more pleasant oveiiiug. and hoping it would not l)C long until Wake Forest would be coiiiins? uvor again. \Vc were glad to have as our guests und cliai)'’rones Miss Jlary Looniiw Smith, .Miss Kmtly Parsons, tuid Miss Carman Rogers. 15AN 10.
