You know tliose bells I thought were lire bells? Yeah? Well, they aren't a tall. They ring when we are 'sposed to go to classes. Would yon thlak they’d have so much sense? Guess what they have been doing They’ve been having what they call Freshman training. When I first heard 'bout it I thouglit It was some kinda clrciia or something they was gonna have and they wove trainen iis to act in it. But this Is what they did. You knn'v thof IKHu voil hooi? We sings a souk and then we goes off In little rooms where people what have already been trained gets out their little books and read it to us and asks us quGstinns and we ask them ques tions and have a real good time. There's something about if you get called down I’onr times they call you up to call you down. Xow Sadie, alnt lhat ciuecr? But, I sure knows that and forward and backwards. They give us and oxam tonight. They says no one has ever llunked so I feels ritiht hopeful. Oh—whew—there went a bell! 1 haven't got over jumping yet. I'll write juore next time if I'm not too well trained. Tell ibem all I remain affectionate, Mvhia, Misses Olive Pittman and Carolyn Peacock, both graduate of class of '27, attended chapel exercises Saturday morning. The former Is a teacher of English in Raleigh High School, while the latter teaches in the Wake Forest High School. Misses Florence Stokes, Neva Pearl Kendrick and Kate Higdon, all mem- )>ers of class of '28, have returned to school to resume their studies. All three have been unavoidably delayed in their return to college for the year, aiul we are so glad to welcome them back into our midst. Misses Margaret Eagles '26, Mar garet Lassiter '27 and Mary Herring ’27, were week-end visitors in the college. Miss Bertha Carroll, sister to Miss Beth Carroll, former Dean of Women here and member of the Meredith Board of Trustees, was a guest at the college Thursday and Friday of last week. We were so glad to entertain, on Thursday night and Friday of last week. Miss Madie Lee Wade, student at Chowan college, who represented her college on the Centeunial Program Thursday night. We also welcomed heartily Miss Helen Winborne, mem ber of faculty of Chowan college, and Pres. W. B. Edwards of Chowan college. The Meredith student body extends Its deepest sympathy to Miss Mary Floyd, member class of '31, who was suddenly called to her home in Dunn because of the death of her uncle. Mias Margaret Burgin entertained at dinner at the Meremont Tea Shoppe Wednesday oveniUK at six o'clock. A color scheme of pink and white was attractively carried out. She had as her guests, Danie Belle Eaton, Al berta Atkinson, Helen Tudor, Louise Craven, Ijcila Holding, and Blma H olding.
