a Avriter, but he’s a debater, too. If
you can’t take our word for it juat
try a little debating with him. You
will find he’s mighty hard to beat.
He has a braiu that works all the
time and a vocabulary that has
never been exhausted.
Conceited ? Decidedly not! Per
haps he has never realized how
much he has accomplished. But
Jerry is the kind of boy that honor
makes humble.
If wo were to elaborate on liig
honors you might grow weary be-
iovs ive finished. He’s a Duke man
and he's dyed in true blue and
white—the colors of his Alma Ma
ter. No matter what he has meant
to Duko or to the town from which
he came, we can say with those who
know him that he’s a real Southern
gentlonian. Wliat better could we
say of any one? He is “just Jerry”
on the (iunipus, off the campus, or
no matlor wlu-ro ho happens to be.
He has alrwidy proven that he is
most capable.
Wo feel that the Association could
not have gotten a better president.
His lofty ideals have won our ad
miration and rcspect. He’s a fel
low tljut lieliuves in and practices
real sportsmanship. Jerry u just
another advocate of that age old
theory that runs soniething like
this—“sniilo and the world smiles
witli you!” To be sure he’s a groat
ole boy bnt after all he’s just a
“regular fellow.”
