MISS ELLIOTT TALKS
ON LOVE AND SERVICE
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, a
crowd of happy girls, the Sunshine
group, from the Sunday School classcs
of Pullen Church gathered out in the
front oC the buildings to wait for the
cars that were to carry them to the
Epileptic Colony at Dlx Hill, that they
might “carry sunshine” to the people
there. Soon tlicy were on their way,
and, arriving at the home where this
group of people are cared £oi*, thoy
went into the room where tho group
was gatliered and gave a program, and
sang the hymns which were the fa*
vorites of those listening.
After Miss Elliott had given a talk
on love, one of tho audience arose,
This person said she did not love any
body, kueAv nobody loved her, and that
she did not want to love anybody ex
cept lioraelf! In apito of this opposi
tion, the prog3‘am and hymns were en
joyed, and surely there was never a
more appreciative audionco. Tho Sun
shine group returned, feeling that they
had carrlad some little sunshine to
people who really needed It.

EACH CLASS IS TRYING TO CAPTURE THE CUP
ORIGINALITY IKE KEYNOTE OF EACH STUNT
S-T-IT-X-T, Stunt! Stunt Xight, yes,
it's nearly here. Don’t miss the fun,
Lake your friond, sit with your class,
and sec real home talent.
Stunt nlghi is one glorious night at
'.Meredith, everybody goes and every
body hua a good time. Just friendly
riviilry exists and each person wants
her class to get the cup.
Up until last year it seemed tlmt
by tradition the senior class gut the
cup but last year this custom was
broken—the junior class got tlie cup.
Now who knows who will get it this
year?
Reports from headiiiuirters of the
Senior class are that they propose to
give u better stunt than last year.
They guarantee the plot to be original
and to the person who finds a place in
it that is not original a piece of the
hero's costume will lie given. The
members o£ the class who gave ideas
to Lillian Wheeler, who wrote the
final stunt, wero Evelyn Jolley, Sarah
Cooke, Janie Burns, and Laura Mabol
Elaywood. Mary Burns and Edith
Rowe Grady composod the music.
The unusual talent and pop of tho
Senior class will make their stunt
among the best.
The Jimlor class promises an even
ing of entertainment within their
stunt. Glonnie Paul composed the
music. Margaret Craig, aided by
E’leanor Covington, Mary Louise Huff
man, and Mabol Bagby created the
stunt, It is absolutely an original
idea.
The Sophs are putting before the au
dience Saturday uight a program the
like of which has never been seen at
Meredith Colieee. It is worth your
while and la Kuarantced to entertain
you.
Tliis stunt was written by Evelyn
McCiiil, Sarah Briggs and Ruth Phil
lips. Uuth Phillips also composed the
music.

One of the most enjoyable receptions
of the season was chat of Saturtlay
evening. The Mars Hill Club of Mere
dith entertained the Mars Hiil Clubs
of Wake Forest and State. Tlila party
was different. A very iinique program
had been planned in such a fashion,
as to remind the former students of the
different aspects of Mars Hill days.
Thero were four divisions to the
program: the Icindergarten, grammar
school, high school, aud college. Of
conrse, the collogo days w^ere pleas
ant. The Mars Hill pennants aud pil
lows added' spirit to the occasion. The
diffoi'cnt society songs were sung, Then
came the stunt contest. A very at
tractive stunt was given by the “Non-
Eu” sociotles. However, the “Clio-Phi”
societies received the reward in this
contest.
The special features of the program
were given by Misses Lucillo Hamby,
Prances Ellas, and Marguerite Mason.
The Club wishes to thank these girls.
In tho midst of tho fun, girls in
blue and gold paper aprons served
croiim, cnko, and peanuts. After sing
ing tho Alma Mator everyone very re-
Imitantly left the hall.

Not then, was there any one beard to

were coii/vnnieutly stored away for

people svith its cold hands. Voices

Two figures entered!—
But wait! Beyond that point we
