OUR MINDS WHIRL RonicnTA Royster It seems that the week of examina tions proved to be a very unusual one in the history of Meredith College. Althongh the Infirmary was one o£ the most popular places on the cam pus before the holidays and during the weeks following, it was entirely deserted when the time came for' “the week of rest, with an occasional ex amination to break the monotony.” (This applying only to the wise Vir gins.) To “Son’s” delight there was once more peace and quiet on the fourth floor B, but there was one on the campus who was worried. Dr. Brewer, in all of his years here had never experienced tlie like. However a reasonable solution to that problem would probably be this: "Plenty of fresh air, sunshine, water, and long walks” agree with the Meredith girls. We hope. iiiit Kvor ihorc Where tiiG sea rages . O'er mossy rocks so aged .V Mcrcdilh girl'.-i i.ruhleni.- Amj-^’"' billows , , .1 u. Again came the time for a masquer ade ball, celebrating the close of the soul-trying week of exams. The oc casion proved to be one of the most interesting and best of its type ever held at Meredith. This was perhaps due to the fact that more of the girla took an interest in the affair, and a greater variety of costumes were represented, this giving variety to the occasion. Once more after a period of ex clusion, State College, Carolina, Duke, and Wake Forest are becoming a part of Meredith's interests, and from a glance at the date hooks, and a peep into the parlors during calling hoars, one would feel that they have already become a great factor in the general interests of the majority of the girls. That "new one whom I met Christmas,” and all of the old ones have been once, twice, and, in some cases, three times. However, almost every one will agree that, although the place did seem strange without the frequent chatter of masculine voices, no one suffered to any great extent during the period of quarantine. It is believed that on Uie whole the results of exams were better, due to the fact that no one's minil was infested by the frequent thought of "his charming countenance.” The Student Government Reception, tlie iirst formal occasion of the season, is near at hand. Some do not know what it is like, and because they are not accustomed to such functions they wilf not attend. Others do not wish to comc l)ecausG they feel a bit em barrassed to invite one of the opposite sex, while others "do not care tor for mal occasions," and prefer to spend their time in some other way. The hest way to become acquainted with the aflair is to be there, and make merry along with the rest, Make yonrself one of the glad bunch, and put into the affair just what you expect to Kot out of it. Invito a man. He can do nothing more than refuse you, and in the modern world women are being roCiised on every liand. If he does not SCO fit to accept your kind invitation then come anyway, becausc others will be there in the samo position that you are and you will not feel "left out,” If you simply do not care for formal occasions, now is tlie best time to make yourself care for them, On every hand in liCo you will need to know things that you learn at such affairs. It is a part of your college education and you should count it a privilege as well as a duty. It Is your duty to make your college curriculum the fullest and best possible.
