If all your work is hard for you, Don’t cry around and look so blue; Just stay at your task and see it through. An’ keep agoin’. If the teachers don’t suit your taste. On them words you needn't waste. Just get to work an’ find your place. An’ keep agoin’. If all your grades aren’t 'very high, Tain’t no use to sit and cry; Just pick up your books an’ say you’ll try. An’ keep agoin’. If some students you don’t like, And want to scorn them just for spite. Just pick up your temper an' hold it tight, An’ keep agoin'. If your room has gone to waste, Don’t go ’round with a sulky face; Hunt up a broom an’ clean the place, An’ keep agoin’. If the meals aren’t of your kind, ’Tain’t no use to fuss an’ whine; Just take your share of all you find, An' keep agoin'. —Clara McCurry in the Orange and Blue.
