Then the retiring president, in summary of the work for the year, expressed her appreciation of the fine spirit and work of the officers and members of the society during the year, and, bidding them farewell, said that although she would be gone, Mother Phila- retia would remain with her al ways. Kathleen Durham, in behalf of the society, then presented her with a token of apprecia tion for her services during the year, after which the officers marched off as “Mother Phila- retia” was sung. The installation service was followed by an informal recep tion, at the close of which sev eral hearty yells were given for the old and new presidents. The annual address this year will be delivered on Tuesday morning by Dr. Bernard C. Clausen. Dr. Clausen has held responsible pastorates, being now pastor of the First Baptist Church of Syracuse, New York. This important place he has filled with genuine satisfaction to his flock and to his city since 1922. Dr. Clausen is no stran ger to Meredith College and its constituency. At our commence ment of 1927 he delivered the annual address, and made such a wonderful impression upon our people that all have been eager to see and hear him again.
