Founders' Day
Each year in celebration oI the birth
day of the college, the alumnae become
linked closer to Meredith through the
chain of meetings all over North Caro
lina and In other places, too, where
there are several “old girls." This year
Founders’ Day comes on Friday, Feb
ruary 7. Elsewhere In this issue a
program of the day’s proceedings gives
you the Information that the alumnae
will sponsor a tree-plantiug at 10 a. ra,
In memory of Dr. Dixon Carroll and in
honor of Miss Ida Poteat, both of whom
came to the college at the opening of
its doors In 189». Again the alumnae
will figure when the bronze portrait
metlallion of Dr. Dixon Carroll Is pre
sented to the college at the regular
Founders’ Day exercises in the audi
torium. For these and other college
events of the day, those who live near
will have an opportunity to bo present,
but for those who live farther away
something has been arranged in which
all may participate—that is the annual
radio program over WPTF, Raleigh,
8:80-9 p. m. Mrs. Gordon Maddrey will
take over the microphone on the dot of
8:30 and prosent those taking part In
the program. Be sure to heed her admo
nition to be at a radio with other Mere
dith girls in your community and
ready to join in the singing of Alma
Mater. May every alumna have a part
in Founders' Day!

flector and at each end wire sliver
candlesticks holding red tapers. The
place cards were hand-painted, old-
fashioned girls.
Miss Frances Morris played two pi
ano numbers, "In a Log Cabin,” by Mac-
Dowell, and a modern number. Miss
Rachael Leonard sang "Ah, Sweet Mys

Leonard, Frances Morris, Claire Ren
frew, Evelyn Mills. Jane Wolfe and Mar
garet Bingham.
