A trio composed of Carolyn Crltcb* er, Barah Falls and Francos Dixon sang the song on a novelty method of presentation. Virginia Council, senior from Raloigh, received tho fivo^dollar award for composing tbe best class song. It was the second year that she has won this prize. The Junior class song was writ* ton by Dorothy Penderi The sophomore song was written by a committee composed ot Marie Chesson, Rebecca Hamiltoni Vir« ginia Greene, Dorothy Maness and Virginia McQonzor. I Scotch Lassies Win Palio For Seniors; Sophs Place Second The Famous Cup The cup held by the Class of '40 during tho past year and now in the posBosfiton of tbelr "Little Sts* ters/’ the Class of *42. The Junior class won reserved boat« for stunt night by having iho largest number present at tho Palio. They had 108 students pres* ent out of a possible IIB. The winnors were determined on a percentage basis, hast year the Class of Dig Sistors to the present Juniors* won tlio prlvi« lego of seeing tho stunts from tlio ilrst rows of tho two middle sections of tbe auditorium* The cup for tho annual Stunt Day Pallo was awarded this year to the **Scotch Lassies** of the senior class. The winners wore pleated plaid skirts and caps In Scotch fashion. Tho costumes were donned as a salute to Dr. Carlyle Campbell. **our Scottish president." Second place in the Pallo parade went to tbe sophomores for their costumes portraying the idea of the name of their class, which moans "The Wise Fools." The Juniors wore head pieces of rod horns and black gloves, follow* ing the idea of tbe odd traditions. The freshman class portrayed a circus parade and all sorts of freaks and clowns were seen. Loading the Palio parade was the newly organized Meredith band. Tbe members of the band wore white skirts and maroon sweaters and wore led by high* stopping Anabelle Cablellero as drum major. Judges for the Palio were Pro* fessor B. Y. Tyner, Dr. Helen Brtce and Mrs. Leroy Allen. Other Palio events were: The horse race, won by the freshman class horse, **Boney Paris/* ridden by Jessie Jouos. and the bicycle relay race, won by the sophomore class. The alumni*student sport events taking place after the Palio were won by tho alumnae under the dl* roctlon of Miss Alta Critchor.
