Sports The Athletic Association and the Monogram Club are making a survey to find the sports in which the new- r-co.inors to the Meredith campus arc interested. They hope that students will be anxious to.learii new sports, as well: as take part in those which they already know how to play. The parlors were decoratcd with fall flowers. Hortensc Lyles of Goldsboro, pres ident of the class, and Mildred Thornton of Loiig Island, N'ew York, vice president, presided at the coffee table. Sandwiches, nuts, and mints were served. Civic Music Concerts During tlie latter part of this year and the first of next, as has been the practice in the )3ast, there will be a series of civic music concerts. The price of student tickets will be $1.80. There will be five concerts in all and they are as'follows: Vivian Della Chieaa—October 12. Don Cossack, chorus and dancers —Ifovember 16. Brailowsky—February 4. Cleveland Orchestra-^March 20. The Ballet TJieater—March 20. Spccial buses will be pro vided to take stndents to and from these concerts. CLUB PLANS PROJECT choir Tryouts The Granddaughters’ Club had its, first meeting of the year Wednesday evening at 5:30 in the Hut. There was a supper in honor of the new members before the program. This year the club is sponsoring the Needlework Guild, an organi zation which provides clothing for needy families. There will be a cap tain on cach hall to collect either the garments or money for them from the girls who would like to con tribute. Therc will be 110 baby gar ments collected. If money is collect ed, the club will buy the gaimenta before turning their contributions in to the Raleigh Needlework Guild. Glee Club Tryouts The first Olee Club try-outs, under the direction of Miss Donley, wero held Wednesday and Thursday after noon the 22nd and the 23rd of Sep tember respectively. The second try outs were held Monday the 27th. As a result a list of names were posted outside of room 3 of the music build ing and the first rehearsal was held Wednesday, the 29th of September.
