The founding of the col lege will be celebrated then. This Is an event that has a definite place In the hearts of the alumnae as attested by the numerous messages and gifts always received on that day. Again all former students will have opportunity of participating In Founders’ Day, even though unable to be at the college tor the day’s program. The radio hour, which has been sponsored by the alum nae association since 1931 when Kate Johnson Parham (Mrs. B. W.) of Ox ford was president, will be in progress through courtesy of WPTF from 4:30- 4:45 p.m. So circle in RED the date, February 4; listen to the program; think Meredith. New Year’s Greetings! By Founders’ Day, Friday, February 4, we hope your name will mean a new link in the active alumnae chain of «a?nes. You add a new link, you under stand, by sending to the alumnae office $2.00. By doing this not only will you up the percentage of active alumnae in the Association but also you will toe helping the standing of your class. We want to add hudreds of links to the active alnvi-nae of iiames by Founders’ Day; we need yoiu* link. The Colleye Plate The first shipment of the college plate has been received by Jones, Mc- Duffee & Stratton, Wedgwood agent of Boston. Some customers have already received their plates, which are prov ing to measure up to all expectation. All who have been heard from have ex pressed delight by ’phone calls, tele grams, and letters. These plates are done on Queensware, “a Wedgwood product named from the original for mula used by their founder, Josiah Wedgwood, F.R.S., for a presentation set to Queen Charlotte.” This ‘‘First Edition” is stamped on the reverse side of each plate with the autograph of Miss Ida Poteat, enhancing greatly the value of the plate. Gronp Meets in Atlanta An enthusiastic group met Alumnae Secretary Mae Grimmer at the Atlanta Blltmore Hotel on the evening of De cember 5 In Atlanta, Georgia. After hearing of present Meredith, seeing pic tures, the latest Oak Leaves, Acoms, Twias, and news clippings, the alum nae told what they are doing. That was interesting, for besides holding down regular Jobs, they are engaged In all sorts of civilian defense work— air-raid wardens. Red Cross and hos pital workers, donors of blood at Blood Bank, etc. Elizabeth Bass Babington (Mrs. R. K.), resident there for many years, rounded up the group and said that she felt well repaid for her offorts. Those present were: Elizabeth Bass CoapoDS and Magailnes The magazine business for December was good, commissions having brought in $15.00. This amount was given to the Ida Poteat Loan Fund, for Decem ber is Miss Ida’s birth month. Some coupons have come in, but more are needed. Send both coupons and maga zine subscriptions to the alumnae office before Founders’ Day If possible—later at any rate.
